i want to ask you something.. when we have these grading for a surface then which details we will provide to site engineer for constructions about grading and how we get these details..please explain??
this is a good tutorial on using the tools, I'd contest they are used beyond their usable intent though if we're trying to create organic land forms instead of straight line geometric shapes. Civil 3D contouring is so poor and or takes so long, 6th grade drafting would fail the output let alone collegiate courses on grading. I get it roughed out on the pavement and do everything other than roads by polyline contours... or at least draft lines and curves for the contours and then build the surface from contours and cogo points with featureline lines for pads and pavement only. Featurelines for organic shapes is inappropriate. Again, awesome tutorial on maximizing the tools but it's important to state this is exactly what happens when you try to use straight line grading to make organic land forms, it works and looks atrocious. It takes a lot less time to draw a polyline with the curvature you want in it at a stepped offset then to try and get feature lines or corridors to create the same which is technically impossible because we all know, surface contours are lines only.
I draw a rectangle of 10'x10', when a convert it a parcel and select area dimensions as sqft it show the result as 14400 it means it is showing the result in sq inches, NEED HELP
This method does not provide a dynamic relationship to the corridors. If the corrdor changes the lots don't update. Why does this matter? We need to balance the earthwork. We start with a grading model and cal the earthwork. Then we need to adjust the site to get it balanced. Usually this means evaluating the cut-fill map to find where we need to raise or lower the site. Then we tweak the road profiles which adjusts the pads. raise it where pads are in cut, lower when pads in fill, etc. It is an iterative process. This method requires a lot of manual work for each iteration.
I mean, with each iteration you would just have to click the ROW FL, pull from corridor surface, and then you're done. You're talking about 1 minute of work added per iteration. Not really significant.
