My collection of CDV-710 High range gamma radiation survey meters made between 1954 and 1959. An interesting historical curiosity of Cold War nuclear war preparedness.
The CDV 710 lot I have handled were retrofitted to eliminate the need for the 22v batteries. They were all very functional under the influence of our 320 Kv Gulmay bipolar X-ray systems. Yes - I could peg the dial at 50 Rh at 6 foot from the tube face > 320 Kv at 1 Ma.

Do you know if evaporust could be used to remove rust on steel mags. I’ve got a few steel surplus ak mags with rust in spots that can’t be reached. Hoping evaporust would remove the rust and yet not harm the finish at all. Can’t find an answer to this.
@@HughesEnterprises I know that feeling. At one point I had a bolt rifle and sidearm from every belligerent of WW2. Then less fortunate times happened. C'est la vie.
@@HughesEnterprises True that. I got a CDV-720 off eBay and sent it off to get calibrated. All told, I think it was under $100 with $40 of that going to Shane. I think the 715 is more elegant (without the extension cable). But fortunately, nothing happened on y2k and it's in a box somewhere in the attic. Your 710 collection is VERY impressive.
@@HALEdigitalARTS Thanks! I used to have the full 720 collection too but sold them all but my model 1’s and a Landers model 3. Still kicking myself for selling my CDV-718!
