Did the confederate artillery have any spherical rounds with fuses or did they have cannon balls with crude Borman fuse?

How effective were the airburst shrapnel cannonballs?

Awesome video Cliff! So many great finds! I dug a ball that looks just like your first dig on a site where I was digging militia and flat buttons and other relics about a month ago. I was so excited when I found it because I thought it was a cannonball but mine weighed 16 pounds and was solid, no fuse. I cannot find any information that would match mine with civil war era so now I’m doubting or wondering if it is a cannonball. Do you know of any cannonballs that were 16 pounders? If mine is a milling ball I’m gonna be disappointed.
