I met up with my dad again to cover the Civil War section of his military museum. I've decided from here we're going to go in sequence of the wars, so stay tuned for more!
Your dad is a wealth of knowledge and you can really tell that he enjoys explaining and showing history andtelling it in a way that people want to listen and learn from, if only school teachers were like him. Definitely a man everyone would like.
P53 Enfield uses Minie balls usually which are a hollow based bullet that expands when fired to engage the rifling. A full sized projectile is hard to load especially after the bore gets fouled.
Mel has so much knowledge to offer. I'm so glad he is preserving and teaching our country's history. The museum is definitely on my vacation list. It's a plus that he's from Brooklyn,. I can always pick out a fellow Brooklynite 👍
Loved it. This is the first time watching your channel. I must say it’s AWESOME !!! As long as we don’t see Clint from classic firearms it will be a hit. Just kidding Clint 🤫🤔
Some comment on the Battle flag. It has no meaning as far as slavery or racism. It is simply what it is, a Battle flag. People have hijacked it and used it for their purposes. I will remind everyone that slavery existed under the US flag until Dec of 1865. US flagged slave ships sailed into the Caribbean countries as late as 1880. The Confederacy didn't fight for slavery, nor did the Union fight against slavery. That war was 2 slave-holding republics fighting each other... One for dominance, one for Independence. Also, Gen Lee wasn't the commander of the entire army... Only the Army of Northern Virginia. The last Confederate general to surrender was General Stand Waite, a Cherokee Indian. Waite was the highest ranking Native American on either side. Many Native Americans supported the Confederacy because they believed the US government to be oppressive, ie Trail of Tears. Looking at history after the civil war, they weren't wrong. The Indian Nations lost more soldiers than any other group of people.
Thank you VERY much, Ava, for your disclaimer. Mr. Dragonman, I am amazed by your dedication to collect and preserve so many excellent historical treasures, which I hope will always be secured and protected for future generations to learn from. I am very impressed.
You people complaining about a Confederate flag IN A MUSEUM, are an embarrassment to our country. But then again that seems to be what's acceptable these days.
Pretty interesting history about the Confederate Flag because what we think is the flag was a battle flag that was initially unpopular among Confederates. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flags_of_the_Confederate_States_of_America#:~:text=The%20Confederacy%27s%20first%20official%20national,Marschall%20would%20have%20been%20familiar.
