Also only 3 states on the west coast have their own State Defense Force and Texas being more in the south has one too. Pretty sure both sides have parts of the military on their side so its not just civilians vs military. 19 states at least rise up including California, Texas and Florida from the sounds of the trailer. Those 3 states have the biggest populations in the U.S too.
Actually the military is sworn in to protect the Constitution. So military could be with the citizens. Also; Russia and other countries would give the citizens weapons; they want a civil war here because when the government is pre occupied with internal matters they can invade; or attach the government by arming the citizens. Remember France helped the Americans against great britain in the revolutionary war.
I know this is a fictional movie, but it kind of gives me chills because is this something we should be worried because of everything that is happening in politics today and all military factions and groups in América. Im just saying what is the movie really showing us, is this a warning in the future or is this something they are trying to prevent in a near future.

I used to watch it RELIGIOUSLY and then it got CANCELED after 2 short seasons and they sort of continued the story with a graphic novel and a book but meh. It really Pi$$e$ me off that boring generic time passers like LAW AND ORDER last for DECADES than an awesome and I mean AWESOME show like Jericho gets canceled way too soon. NEXT, a show about a rogue A.I. and Battlestar Galactica and DEBRIS are other examples of shows that ended way way too soon.

We sometimes get boring movie series that drag on way too long and get muddled like the Saw movies and other horror movie series but sometimes there is an AWESOME premise that does not get the sequels it deserves. I want CIVIL WAR to NOT end on an "all loose ends" tied up note and get SEQUELS. To me its the new "Purge".

I find the movie very plausible and highly likely. Texas can turn blue at any time. There used to be talk of Aztlan. Americans have said time and against to save our states and not use resources for invaders. Also, this plot of this movie could happen almost anywhere since too many migrants in such numbers are allowed in.
The opposite is also technically possible where the republicans in CA either peacefully or forcibly turn the state red. Not probable, but still a possibility.

Honestly we are far more likely to be sabotaged and possibly nuked by foreign powers at the outset of a WWIII scenario than this. I mean think about it. Our borders have been practically nonexistent for years now and thousands of military-aged adult males from many of our primary geopolitical enemies have swarmed our borders. We’re talking China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Afghanistan, and others. It would not take much imagination to see these countries setting up sleeper cells in important industries like water, electrical, aviation. I mean hell what’s to say, hypothetically _hopefully_ , a group hasn’t bought out or rented an apartment in a big city(choose whichever one you fancy) and slowly overtime either built onsite or mailed in or through drops the pieces needed to build an on-site nuclear capable of killing millions in said city. Now picture that but in virtually evrery major city with a population over 1 or 2 million. All it would take is wiping out several key industrial or cultural centers at the outset of a major conflict and the US would instantly be at a catastrophic disadvantage. I’m telling you this weighs heavy on my mind.

Four things tell me this movie will suck. 1: The writers did absolutely zero research on American culture and politics because the idea of Texas and California joining forces is just ludicrous, they are the two most ideologically opposed states in the country and would sooner go to war against each other than team up. 2: The fact that Hollywood approved this movie means it will definitely have a strong pro-liberal slant to it like all other 2CW movies/shows do. 3: I don't think it's a coincidence that this movie will be released on an election year and on a year which Texas is expected to actually vote on secession which means it's most likely pro-democrat, anti-secession propaganda. 4: Kirsten Dunst.

@@thelonercoder5816 I'm well aware it's happened before (Such as in China when the Nationalists and Communists ostensibly halted their own civil war to fight the Japanese) and that such an unlikely alliance could indeed happen between republican and democrat states in America. But for that to happen, it would take a presidential administration far worse than anything we've ever had before for both parties to ally under one flag. To be fair, the trailer does mention the president getting a third term and using airstrikes on civilians, so maybe that combined with other dictatorial policies could be enough to push the left and right to join forces to take him down. Or perhaps this is set in an alternate timeline where TX is a blue state or CA is red. A lot of Californians are moving to Texas and could be enough to flip the state blue. On the other hand, California is actually pretty conservative once you get outside of the urban areas, so maybe the CA republicans finally have had enough and overthrow the governor and flip CA red. Movie lore aside, the mere fact that the left-dominated Hollywood approved a movie on such a controversial subject tell me which way it will be slanted.
