They've been civil for a while but it seems no more. TSU feeling themselves, approached SU stands and Southern responded by playing at the end of TSU field show. It's on!
I was sitting right above The Jukebox when The Ocean came to that side. They were caught totally off guard! The energy and power from The Ocean when they cranked on SU, and the power and energy from SU when they responded was off the chain! 🤣
This is the making of a huge rivalry between SU alums.! Brian Simmons is licking his chops knowing his plans to grown TxSU over the next 2 or 3 years. Just look what he has down in 1 year. By time he gets his 3rd recruiting class. SU really going to have a monster to deal with. I love it. SU has been my favorite band since fall 93, but I got love for Simmons and he's coming for SU!
Facts I been a FAN OF PV SINCE 94…. But even then SU has been the STANDARD. Everyone that can play from Dallas Ft Worth goes to PV, Grambling, Southern or JSU . All the non players go to TSU….. oh but a new day has dawned…. Shout out to Brian Simmons 🔥🔥🔥💨💨💨💨

Where are my Louisiana Rub wings & ice cold Peach Breeze Clubtail so I can thoroughly enjoy my Jukes & The Ocean Of Soul go note for note?!!!? Don't get me wrong, I miss Mr. Simmons being @ SU but I must give him praise for immediately starting to build his own powerhouse @ TSU. I'm looking forward to this growing into one of the top band rivalries we'll have the pleasure of experiencing in years to come.
Txsu has the book and arrangements.... Su has the power and better execution.... this reminds me of haymer and Taylor high-school directing days. Haymer(Washington-marion)was creative and had the wow factor, while Taylor(baker hs) played it safe and was at times lackluster but was extremely clean and had the better execution .
I marched at Texas Southern c/o 95... We had some wars with SU. Full circle, my nephew is in the band at Texas Southern now playin the same instrument that I played (Tuba). I'm slow to hand SU an L... but some years, they rely on their power only. This year, TSU has a better book, better arrangements, better attacks and releases, dynamics.. etc. My only critique of SU is the book this season.
@@graykeyzmusic I was also in the band played trumpet in the '94-95 school years from Jack Yates High School. Those years TSU was rebuilding the band and had mostly freshmen to sophomores. Small but strong.
People always talking about keep it classy, shut up! It’s a time and a place for “classy” and this is not one of them.. this is supposed to be entertainment and this is what people are paying their money hoping to see.. pure unadulterated-ignorance‼️This is what creates moments and memories for everybody including the band members. I'm SU all day but I don't like they songs they been playing I think it's the band directors they should of never let Simmons go But SU still sound very good they need better songs.

I love it! That's how you do it, strike first and catch your opponent off guard! Simmons is visionary, Taylor is reactionary. Simmons = agitator, Taylor = in his feelings.

For this video, I'm subscribing. You have raw footage up close and personal. The fact that SU is so offended by the pettiness of Texas Southern when they do petty ish all the time trying to be loud bullies. FAMU and PV comes to mind when they exposed pettiness for a couple of examples. Hell they kicked out PV after they tried to out blow them in a 5th quarter out because PV was in that ass. They even had SU's p.a. guy flustered. Jukebox fans are arrogant and obnoxious and to think as a kid I enjoyed this band. I'm not affiliated with TSU but they are hometown. They don't know bout Texas. Htown proud.

Sometimes the act speaks more volumes than the actual blow. Idc if The Ocean blew on them first and SU blew back. The fact they DID IT will be remembered. And it will get them recruits.
