Really loving my Feldspar, Button lock feldspar, Crag, Maileahs, Scoria and a few others that I have Cjrb killing it with the rpm9 right now it's probably the best done budget steel out there with the exception of well done 14c28n.

Like your videos. Playing with knives while drinking is hilarious and usually when they come out when friends come over to show off your new shit. Have this knife in all black with red its sexy as hell. Used it to trim meat of a 10 lb pork butt roast which is my least favorite because of the bone being all curvy and awkward. It did well though so I m keeping it. Good video hope you make more soon.

Cjrb with D2 Steel are great blades. Were you guys next to get that traveling gear box going around ?

That blade shape is what I would call a "trailing point", but alot of people also refer to it as a "Persian". Either way, it looks cool. I'm guessing whoever put an edge on that knife may have been hung over that day, hence the poor cutting performance. If I were you I would lay a nice edge on that thing and give it another chance. Cheers, guys.

Thanks David! Persian would be a lot easier than singing the song from Aladdin every time

My fiance gave me a Ontario Shikra as an early Christmas gift, and it is super slicey! You guys should check it out. The handle is a titanium framelock with Micarta on the other side and Aus 8 steel they are $30 at knife center right now.

Wonder who’s been tick tacking houses, lol. I’m thinking someone was in a smidge of pain, maybe the knife got a bit of a bad rap. Have a bad shoulder myself, so I know the force is less when hurting. Feel better! Good job guys!

Holy shit, I feel like I'm youtube famous! Can't believe I missed this when it dropped. I own 6 or 7 CJRB knives and the first 3 or 4 I bought were great. Just recently I bought a couple all in RPM9 and while the steel has been fine there has been one issue or another with another part of the knife. I have a feldspar that is so hard to open I can barely use my thumb to flick it open. Then I grabbed the Ria and it came with a burnt tip. Theyre Chinese knives, they're cheap, they aren't gonna be perfect but last week I bit the bullet and bought another feldspar and the pivot screw tore up 2 or my torx drivers. After using a soldering iron to hest the pivot I noticed it was loaded with loctite. I'm willing to overlook certain things when you're buying a knife for less than 60-70 bucks but after being disappointed 3 times in a row I feel like CJRB is starting to take a deep slide downward. I'll send my money towards Civivi or Kizer or QSP from now on. Anyways, awesome test guys! Great video!

@NewAgeTactical 2 года назад
Hey Jon thanks for all this info! I can see past some of those issues but the burnt tip really surprised me. We purposely test them right out of the box to see how the factory treated them, burnt tip is just lazy. CJRB is definitely not over with so I am curious to see how many of these issues will arise

Someday we will dive into fixed blades, but we know the torture test would have to be even crazier for fixed

Please don't ever use a pull through sharpener On any blade ever again that is terrible

ARRPM-9 is close to 9cr18mov composition wise, it's kind of like a powdered version of that steel. I was not impressed with the edge retention on the knife I got from CJRB with it (the CJRB Ria). Sharpening it was a pain too, felt very gummy if that makes sense. Civivi's 9cr18mov was far superior for my uses, Civivi does a ridiculously good heat treat on that stuff.

Btw, if you want to invest in a great sharpener, I frekkin' love the Work Sharp Precision Adjust. Best bang for your buck sharpening system imo.
@NewAgeTactical
@NewAgeTactical 2 года назад
@@nebulamask81 Actually I have been trying to figure out which one I want to buy. Some are a little pricey thou.
@NewAgeTactical
@NewAgeTactical 2 года назад
I looked them up that's not that bad price wise. Do you have the Elite?
@nebulamask81
@nebulamask81 2 года назад
@@NewAgeTactical If you go with the precision adjust, $50 for a fixed angle sharpener is a good deal. I wouldn't go with the pro version or upgrade kit for it. running a knife through the base model and then stropping it after is enough to get a great edge. I don't feel any need for mirror polished edges or whatever personally. Fixed angle sharpeners aren't the best for recurves but that's about it.
@nebulamask81
@nebulamask81 2 года назад
@@NewAgeTactical Nah, just the base kit, the eliete isn't necessary unless you're doing a lot of reprofiling or you want mirror polished edges. Even with the base 3 stones you can reprofile if you want, just takes a little bit longer. The edge after the ceramic stone is semi-reflective, but not a mirror polish, so unless you're a sharpening enthusiast I would stick to the base kit and having a strop just for general use is a really good idea as well.

Would love to see this again after a sharpening matching the factory angle. A mediocre factory sharpening job on the factory burnt edge is unlikely to see performance of the true potential of a knife.
@NewAgeTactical
@NewAgeTactical 2 года назад
Part of the test is the "out of box" aspect. We know with some budget blades, the factory edge can vary in quality. We've only recently added the sharpening at the end just to learn more about the steels

Hi guys, I hope you are well! I always follow you with interest in each video, but on knives more 😀! What can I say: strange knife ... aesthetically I don't like it, it seems sturdy enough but loses the edge very easily, moreover it doesn't seem to cut much but then on the pencil and on the wood it worked well. I can't give a precise judgment, all in all my vote is just enough I would give it a 6-. Good life
@NewAgeTactical
