If you need to fly control line combat models solo for trimming or practice, you need some kind of gadget to hold the model and then launch it. There are easier ways and much more difficult ways. Here's my way.
It's made of 6mm poplar ply, with a hinged leg, rubber bungee loops to hold in to the top of my flight box, and two rubber bungee straps to hold the model down. The straps are restrained by a 3mm aluminium wire release hook arrangement that unleashes both bungee straps similtaneously on a pull of the Spectra cord. The cord is pinned to the ground about 3 metres from the model to keep it from blowing up into the lines on take-off.
The whole project turned out a bit more complicated than I had anticipated, but it does everything it was supposed to: It's compact enough to fit inside my flight box. Simple to assemble. Elevated above the ground. Holds the running model securely enough to avoid accidental release. Doesn't damage the models. Releases cleanly without hangups.
