Its not a result of kids being messy as one person replied, this is an issue in the ventilation system not the carpet or floors. ABC needs to investigate the 46 million by ASU's own admission on their website, received from the Cares Act from the government. The US Department of Education "released a resource to help schools, colleges and universities improve their ventilation systems to prevent the spread of covid-19 AND provide healthy learning environments" This was part of The American Rescue Plan. There has been misuse of those funds going to athletic programs at some schools by creatively rerouting the way the were meant to be used. Clearly we need transparency and clarity on this matter So where did all that money go?
The HAVOC system has not been taken care of since 2019. No duck work/maintenance since 2019. ASU was aware of the situation since 2019. When last spoken to ASU they blamed everything on the COVID-19 closure, even though 2019 had nothing to do with something we knew nothing of in 2019 ASU rather line their pockets with money then to deal with class room, library ,dorms, shower, bathrooms and gym locker rooms/ shower a tree area's. FACT CHECK by ASU Chancellor in a 2019 interview. I was told at the time they were going to be working on the HAVOC/AIR SYSTEMS in campus rooms/library/dorm/ gym shower areas in March of 2019? Hmm... something's never change, like the lack thereof ASU personnel.
My story of this: I lived in ASU Tempe that year in a different dorm built and I completely agree because after moving into three different rooms due to other maintenance issues and my final room always had a mold smell. I can’t believe me and other freshman dealt with this. Just overall, I don’t like the idea of colleges provide cheap dorms for freshman. Freshman need more respect for housing. Now since I’m finally done with freshman year, I’m looking forward to university apartments that should be better. I’m feeling bad for the next upcoming freshman.
ASU was going off the word of the American Campus employees , Not ASU's fault ,, I have a daughter who lives at Student Living & thought, I wouldn't want My daughter living here - Manzinita because of the rush to clean . We were told We were moving to slow , hurry & get down even if it was a half-ass job , I was like dang . I clean My ass good , how do they clean their's - half assed . At the same time the Students would whine " what's taking so long " , for their ducts to be cleaned .Most of American Campus Employees where on their phones , Facebook or either checking out the Students , I was like I have a daughter that age , anyway I was a horrible experience , but wouldn't mind going back and doing the job right . Everyone was more worried about what food for lunch they were ordering , except Crystal
I worked at the Manzinita , recently , was horrible We we told Not to say a word ( I will edit in the details asap ) . We gave examples of only the cleaner rooms
hi! i am supposed to move into Manzanita this fall and i deal with multiple chronic illnesses, where mold illness CANNOT cross for me or else it could arise serious complications. do you know if they fixed anything? please respond, because this is a health matter for me and i need to know if i should change to a different dorm!
@cc cc They clean maybe once a year but You should be oK now that this story came out. Just My opinion Just monitor your vents yourself. Have someone show You how to open it ( basically with a screwdriver ) and see if the filters are dirty with Mold. Check randomly.
Well you know if there's mold in their dorms it's because they're not cleaning their food up and they're not cleaning at all has to come from dirt and not being clean that's where it grows common Sense people quit trying to blame it on everyone else tell your kids to clean their mess up and go on with life
