dear entertainment weekly, if you invite actors to join your recaps, pls make sure they get more opportunities to speak. I was interested most in Claires opinion and her character and she spoke like three times. The audience craves to hear the actors point of view rather than Julie who speaks 40 minutes in every episode

If you watch the one with Paul and Nina they did a lot of talking. But I think Claire didn’t talk much because her character wasn’t a huge part of S3 in general but later on in the seasons we learned more about her and her personality

3:58 Clair wanted to be in the secret circle so that she can work with Pheobe Tonkin in the show but she didn't get it sadly, but they acted together in H20 mermaid when they were teenagers and now they're together in the vampire diaries and The originals wow Claire Holt and Pheobe Tonkin has a great strong friendship

The first kiss of Damon Elena was so perfectly placed. I can not thank Julie enough to delay it in search of the appropriate moment unlike shows these days where the concept of slow burn is extinct. Also their first meeting was such a pleasant surprise. Miss this show!!

Exactly. She is clearly lying. If Julie actually did ship Matt and Bonnie she would have made them have more scenes together, which they really didn’t throughout the show. Literally that lifeguard scene was the only time it looked like Matt and Bonnie had a connection. I don’t remember anything else as significant after that. I think Julie just brought this up because she is well aware of all the hate she is getting about treating Bonnie on the show.

@@suripanta1924 Yes it’s clearly fake. It’s so obvious Julie never gave a rat’s ass about Bonnie as a character. I refuse to believe she shipped Matt and Bonnie, if she really wanted them to happen, she would have done it. It’s literally her show after all and she had 5 more seasons to do it. And it’s really heartbreaking that Bonnie started to get a comparatively better storyline only after Nina Dobrev left.

@@Anakin737 no I meant it's fake that she wanted to kill Bonnie off the show. The Matt and Bonnie thing is true. This is not the first time she says it. I remember she said it too in 2017 when the show was ending. She was still wondering whether she pair her with Matt at the end or not. And about Bonnie having a storyline after Nina left, it's not just Bonnie, actually she has always been important, Caroline is the character that got finally useful in s7. I know everyone loves her because he is funny but Caroline lierally doesn't do a thing during the show 👀. It's always Stefan Bonnie Damon Elena who does everything. actually you can even notice that in he final seasons. Caroline always appears out of nowhere just at the end.

Learning about Julie shipping Bonnie and Matt is interesting. I kinda got to that point in season 5 ep 2 when Matt went to The Other Side and comforted Bonnie about losing her dad. I wouldn't have been too mad about their ending if that's what it was. I just would've needed Matt to be a bit more likable by the end of the series first. He got really annoying in the later seasons. Haha

I was just watching the last couple of episodes of Vampire Diaries and I just noticed how they integrated a bunch of side characters like the grandfather from season one the car wash scene where he remembers Stephen, and Bonnies cousin from the moonstone episode came back for the season finally it was so nice to see I'm sure I missed some too

When she said she was insecure I felt that I dont think Julie is a bad person I think she listened to the fans too much and they lost track of their main focus. You are the storytellers you control the flow. Fans can give you feedback but they're not in charge. If she was more firm she couldve held a tighter storyline. End game--> Stelena End game--> Bamon. Boom 👊🏼

@@Hi-cq2hm it wasn't only because of delena. episodes 5-8 of season 3 are top tier writing wise. general viewers don't watch the show because of a ship (i watched for a story not for a ship and i've completely given up on the show when in became just about shipping and delena). you can't say the ratings went up only because of a ship because in season 4 ratings started to go down and that's when delena happened. season 5 was very delena centric and the show lost many viewers because that season wasn't good. 3x19 has a delena motel kiss and is the lowest rated episode of season 3 (not that it's not an iconic scene because it is). you should respond to what works with fans but not let them dictate the direction of the show fully.

@@Hi-cq2hm i didn't say delena wasn't more popular, it clearly was. kevin and julie straight up said that the audience lets damon get away with everything. i'm just saying a ship is not what brought the viewers in. a casual viewer would be interested in the story even if their preferred ship isn't together if the story is compelling and the characters' arcs are well written

I liked her, and found her believable, with everyone BUT Stefan, actually. I just never found them believable as a couple. I loved the friendship that grew between them unexpectedly though. I just feel it should have stayed that, a very good, special friendship.

@@daliav-f8629 I agree I would've been more happy to see her with Matt or Tyler (if not Klaus) Stefan and Caroline didn't make sense to me they had a great friend/ mentor type of dynamic. I think maybe it was also weird because they took her in an interesting direction with Alaric after Klaus left (to make the spin off lol) and a lot of us were still hanging on to the possibility of Klaroline. It kinda felt like they just wanted stefan with someone and Caroline made the most sense out of the other characters

@@alexandran6009 LOL. Agreed. Though Klaus always kinda gave me the heebie-jeebies. Towards the end, however, I did find him more likeable and appealing. By then, they HAD humanized him a bit more, though. But, yes, I agree that it seemed like they needed Stefan with SOMEone, ANYone, before the series bowed out so they just drew Caroline's name out of a hat or something. But, good, Glad I'm not the only one that felt that way!

The love triangle was perfectly balanced in season 3 for sure ; it's too bad it suddenly did a jump too big too fast in season 4 going from Stefan putting a ring on it (in a way) to Elena wanting to date Damon (having sex with him even) in the blink of an eye almost

i agree. stefan and elena needed more closure, we needed to see them growing apart more, especially if that was their final break up and they never intended for them to be together again. the change was too abrupt.

@@birdy4714 exactly. to me the beauty of S3 was that they honoured all the complicated emotions that come with a feeling like this (the triangle). the S4 jump irritated me because it diminished elena's choice somehow + stefan's larger sacrifices (among other reasons) (and set her up to be hated by many fans for being ungrateful, betrayal and what not). would've loved to see a more spaced out, confident choice by end of S4.

I fell in love with her when she was on H20. I loved that show as silly as it was. Then when she came onto TVD I was really excited. The casting especially for the originals was fantastic. They made it soo natural and east to portray this close yet complicated family that’s existed for eons and been through soo much together. ❤

My first introduction to Claire Holt was the Vampire diaries, and Rebecka became a fast favorite🤗 Just the right amount of Sass, BADASS, and vulnerability. I absolutely loved her❤ the scene I always wondered about, it when Rebecka was getting ready for prom, and it was the first time she ever got to experience that part of a human existence. Elena, Damon, and Stephan had a plan they were setting in motion ( I can't remember what it was for) but Rebecka would have got in the way. Her and Elena were talking, and really bonding. Rebecka is looking at herself in the mirror, and almost seeming like she's scared, excited , wondering if she can really do this, if she'll actually has the courage to go through this, is she's ready for prom, and then Elena says she's missing one thing, and puts Rebecka's mother's necklace around her neck. Rebecka in that moment, looks like she's so greatful to Elena to get that piece of her mother back, she almost starts to cry. Now we get to the part I wonder. What kind of a relationship would Rebecka and Elena have had, if this hadn't been just a way to soften Rebecka up to get a chance to steak her. What if Elena would have actually just given her this gift as an act of friendship? If there's one thing about Rebecka, she really did value true friends, and I think Rebecka on team Elena would have been a game changer 😁 Love to Claire Holt and Nina Dobrev❤

@@AtlanticLove21 Yeah, but they also didn't ask her any questions about Rebekah, and comparing the amount of times Klaus was talked about against Rebekah...it just seemed rude . She's just sitting there because they aren't involving her. In the interview with Nina and Paul it was balanced.

Julie Plec is obviously lying about shipping Bonnie and Matt... those two only had a handful of scenes together so if they did end up together it would have been out of left field... it would have made sense if they did get together, but there was literally no lead up to it.

33:24 is when they talk about Klaroline. I don’t like how Julie describes is as the most toxic couple. Sure, Klaus was evil since he was the oldest and the strongest vampire. But most of the couples were toxic, did something bad to each other. It seems to me that Klaroline got too popular for Julie and she was scared it might interfere with her precious love triangle. Then, she teased fans with Klaroline on the Originals just to have Klaus killed and Caroline ending up alone. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate producers’ hard work to make the show great but quite often Julie missed the point and destroyed a lot of great things.

@@karolinastachowiak1629 oh no I'm agree with that. All of them were toxic. Even stelena when treat it like it was so pure and healthy and it was the most toxic for me (mundane speaking). But thing with Klaroline is that first of all it's not even a "relationship". And it's not only toxic it was twisted, and it made Caroline's character more hypocrite for me :/ she legit judged Elena for Damon when she was sleeping and having this thing with Klaus and he literally killed Elena, Jenna, Bonnie.... nor only that he also tormented them and killed Caroline's boyfriend's mom. Elena ended up with her blood drained in the hospital like 2 times and he also bite ad stabbed Caroline. And her agonizing 2 times. Last time was 4 episodes before he left for The Originals 😐. Where was their storyline? Or Klaus doing amends for what he did ti Caroline's best friend? I have never found the sense in that ship but is so so so popular.

@@suripanta1924 Klaus did save Damon and basically the whole gang during graduation. He gave Caroline 3 million dollars to build the Salvatore school. He saved Stefan for her and offered advise over the phone. He was the one she was looking for when she got in trouble and took her daughter to New Orleans. He saved Caroline too actually when he was in Tyler’s body and from Alaric. What I like about them is not only their amazing chemistry but the fact that Klaus showed his vulnerable side because of Caroline. I am not saying this ship is perfect but it’s exciting and interesting for me to watch. Like Steroline and Klamille bore me so much. Generally speaking all the ships had something toxic to them, more or less.

@@karolinastachowiak1629 yes but the good things he did wer out of nothing and then he went bad again. Like for example like you said he saved Caroline from the truck in Tyler's body in s4. But after that he kept waiting to cure Elena so he could continue using her. Yes he saved Damon in the end of s4. But if it wasn't because his daughter and that he had to live he wouldn't have stoped waiting for Elena to keep abusing her. Lie the only thing that made him think in another thing was Hope. Not Caroline or whatever 🥺. In 3x09 he killed Tyler's mom. 4 episodes before he left to new Orleans had Caroline agonizing after stabbing and biting her. The next time he saw her was in the graduation, you get me? It's like ????. I understand the chemistry but since it has 0 developed and storyline I can't understand the ship. And steroline and klamille may have no the necessary chemistry but they have the storyline. I wish they would've casted another actress to play Camille. I think the biggest mistake was that....
