Well, he spent a good deal of personal time with Zelensky when he came here. Looking at a man in his face who then explains the misery that he and his country is going through while trying not to get wiped off the map probably played a big part in his change of mind. Especially when you know that you can personally do something decisive about it. If Mike doesn't do this, he has to live with that fact the rest of his life.
