Hi, @skidawg22, thanks for your comment. I agree with you. Even on immigration, it is a good thing, our country was built on many immigrants over the decades. The problem I view, is one thing needs to be changed/amended in our immigration policy and that is the vetting or screening in the qualification process, insofar as how is one to be actually qualified to be an immigrant. At present, I believe that too many immigrants are being let in without a full and thorough background check.

Dude I was raised by Jehovah's Witnesses and I have always avoided politics! I have been so tempted to register to vote. I'm pro life but I am worried about young women I know and love who have been targeted by evangelicals taking away their rights. I have concerns over the right of trans women being able to go into locker rooms and being on women sports team but I would never be interested in taking away rights of parents to decide their kids healthcare. I don't advocate book banning.

Russian bits and trolls want you to believe that Ukrainian aid is a cheque to Ukraine with no oversight and that money is going into the pocket of Zelenskyy. This is totally untrue. The money benefits the US in several ways. This money comes out of the defence budget which all US taxpayers fund for obvious reasons. Equipment becomes outdated or deterirates and requires constant maintenance and replenishment.
We get more bang for the buck spending one billion dollars for Ukraine then we get spending the same amount of our military. Ukraine is very efficient at at causing Russian casualties, which is what is needed to stop Ukraine from being overrun and protecting the rest of Europe. If given a choice between spending one billion dollars on Ukraine or our military, I would be in favor of spending it on Ukraine.

I agree. Most people don't seem to realise that the money gets put aside in an account to purchase the items Ukraine need, whether that is military or humanitarian aid. The money doesn't get transferred to Ukraine. It's the same as a country in Europe purchasing equipment from another country in Europe and having it sent to Ukraine. No country has an open purse. In fact I remember one time they miscalculated and found they had a heap of money left over in the account allocated to Ukraine.

It’s like being alone in the world or having friends with similar beliefs. I don’t think an isolationist point of view works. We either send supplies or troops. Because eventually their war will effect us. Complaining about grocery prices? Ukraine supplies most of the world’s grains. The U.S. feels it’s affect across the Atlantic.
