Traditional Portuguese Clam dish, in an olive oil, wine and garlic broth, cooked "on location" in the Algarve.
"Amêijoas à Bulhão Pato" is a traditional way of cooking clams and is on just about every local restaurant menu I have seen around here.
I hope you are inspired to try this classic snack from the south of Portugal, cooked, as always, just like the locals!

Pete here is one more of the little tricks up my sleeve. To really clean the clams or vongole, put them in lightly salted water and put some small pieces of stale bread in the pot. It is better to do it the day before and leave them in the fridge. It sounds crazy but they consume the bread and completely cleanse themselves as well as the size of the meat almost double in size. Sounds unbelievable but trust me it works by cleansing and increasing the muscle size. Give it a go and let me know what you find.
