Such a sweet moment..walking down memory lane..And the smile of joy and relief on both of their faces when they realize they will still see each other around..
They had it mostly right in the beginning of Smallville. Sure, Clark was always saving Lana, but int the longer view, Lana was also saving Clark in another way. Lana made Clark question his own motivations, search out what he really wanted, become more human. Where they messed it up was in the later seasons, trying to turn Lana first into a "secret agent" and eventually into a late-blooming superhero herself. The idea that Lana had to become Clark's exact PHYSICAL equal was misguided. People save each other in different ways. They missed it.
Agreed. Lana was mentally strong. She ran a successful business at 16 while going to school, lived by herself. The other characters including Clark had solid support systems. Anyone who thought Lana was weak, never suffered loss or lived through trauma of any kind.
