I'm only a 1/3 way threw the video but i just had to stop and comment....such a great job explaining!! Thank you!! I'v just recently bought a 05 Road Star and so i like learning what i can about the bike. I just finished doing a Barnett clutch pressure plate. New engine oil drain plug. Also the nut that holds the front drive pulley on was loose....sure glad i checked it! Iv ordered the lock washer for behind that nut as there was not one on my bike. Canada eh?? Me too! I'm in Southern Manitoba.

Thanks for the positive feedback! And thanks for watching! I have alot of videos on this bike (30 or 40 something I think now haha), I'm currently taking mine apart to check the valves (been awhile since I've checked / adjusted them) , there will be a video to follow. How do you like the Barnett pressure plate ? Did you do friction and steel plates to or just pressure plates ? I'm planing this winter on doing a new pressure plate , and possibly friction/steel plates, I'm still running the OEM pressure plate , was into it years ago and torqued it abit extra so it would be abit more aggressive but I can tell it's starting to get tired again (was about 100000km ago now) . Good catch , it's expensive to replace that shaft and pulley and it took forever to come in. Yes sir , I'm Ontario, but next month I'll be passing through Manitoba , planing on putting on 10000km in 10 days , I'll have around 200000km or close to it on my bike when I get home lol there a great bike , couple week points on them, but over all awesome bike

@@ClargoGaragei just did the purple Barnett pressure plate and springs. I have not run it yet as i found the loose drive pulley nut after i buttoned up the clutch job. Iv got a washer coming for behind the nut, there wasnt one on my bike. 😳

How many km do you expect out of a belt? No burnouts or hard launches.
@ClargoGarage

The dealer / 99% of people say 80000-100000km 50000-60000miles, I've snapped 2 belts with significantly less mileage on them ( around 45000km 30000miles) but they had alot of hard light to light launches on them, and burnouts , riding in below zero temps and riding on alot of dirt roads , the first one that snapped looked like a rock might of partly cut it , I was leaving work it was around 0C there was about 70 feet of dirt parking lot , I always left sideways and it snapped no warning. Second one that snapped was a aftermarket one that was alot cheaper , it started to stretch abit racing light to light gave me some warning, on a hard launch it sounded like it was jumping teeth on the sprocket , I was Buisy and was going to adjust on the weekend so I was just driving it easy for a few days but the damage was done and it broke the day before I was going to get into it and I was going very light on the throttle. So I change my belts around 50000km 35000miles just for peace of mind for myself , I can normally find genuine Yamaha belts for $200ish , when I'm on a long trip I don't halfto worry and I do the work my self so the only cost is the belt and abit of my time , but when I'm 3000+ km from home I'm not worried about it braking . In conclusion if your not hot rodding you should be good for 80000-100000 km 50000-60000mils and if you are hot rodding lots half that for a safety margin would be my recommendation ( 50000km 30000mile) . Periodic checks on alignment and tenchen are good to I check about once a month tenchen and a few rides in a row for alignment . Sorry for the long winded answer , hope this helped and thanks for watching 👍

Hi there, nice video..how many teeth is ur belt..I have a 09 road star and is 156teeth.. can't find one for it..
@ClargoGarage
@ClargoGarage Год назад
I believe mine is 130 teeth. I just went on a Yamaha sight with a parts break down and checked my belt # and your belt # ( assuming I picked the right bike, selected first 09 road star) and both bikes are showing the same belt # 5PX-46241- 11-00 Double check what you have for a part number or contact your local dealer and have them give you the part number to verify it , but if it's the same one it's 130 tooth belt and you can get new ones on eBay that will work , and some of the Yamaha sights have good deals some times on them , but double check your part number just incase I was looking at the wrong bike. Thanks for watching and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask 👍 hope this helped abit
