Hi, welcome to Clargo Garage. My plan with this channel is to create a Vlog that will be a mix of garage/garage related projects and tasks ranging from rotating tires to body work and painting, snowmobiles, motorcycles, all the way to full body off frame rebuilds and custom projects. The hope is to be educational as well as offer content and projects that the average person can tackle/relate to/afford well providing weekly content in a Vlog/show style. A bit about me, I am a electrician by trade, I have picked up my skills and knowledge from previous projects friends, family and researching what I don't know to be able to confidently do the task in front of me. If you like what you see subscribe to my page.

Watching ur video, very helpful, on the front pully between pully and bearing-the spacer how did u take it off so i can put a new o ring
@ClargoGarage
@ClargoGarage 3 часа назад
Thanks, and thanks for watching !, and I was replacing the hole shaft, so never tried to remove just the spacer with everything else together, if I remember correctly I pulled the shaft part way out then was able to just put my finger in the shaft hole in the spacer and easily pull it out . If your trying to get just the spacer out without pulling the shaft out , might get lucky and be able to pull it out just by grabbing onto it , but most likely hands will slip off if your replacing the outer seal as well , with that out of the way would probably be able to get a better grip and jiggle it off , only thing really keeping that spacer in place is just the friction from the o-ring and the outer seal, (once nut and pulley wheel are removed) hope this helps abit

Where did you find the NPT female to AN3 female? Or how did you connect the fuelagauge to the Banjo?
@ClargoGarage
@ClargoGarage 3 дня назад
I ended up going to my local parts store with the banjo fitting and oil pressure gauge and said I needed to join these together, they had a coupling that fit perfect on one and very slightly off on the other , put Teflon tape on (either way I was going to use it), installed it everything tightened up nicely with no issues , was 6-7 years ago now and have never had to touch it once . Was before I was doing the videos so I never payed attention to what the fitting was ( was a threaded coupling from there brake line assortment ), if I remember correctly someone had commented on this video what they used or shared a link with it. Hope this helps and thanks for watching 👍

Thank you! I just picked up a 99 in rough shape. Your videos are why I'm headed out for a ride today. Any advice on finding parts? My intake manifold looks pretty bad and one of my tank grommets is gone.
@ClargoGarage
@ClargoGarage 3 дня назад
Sorry for the late response, was on a big bike trip , starting to get caught up with everyone. And that's great glad my videos help, there's definitely quite a few of them and more coming ! Do you have a local Yamaha dealer ? Are you in Canada USA or other ? If your in the USA there's a sight that sometimes has good prices on the OEM Yamaha parts . Your intake you could clean up or replace or switch to aftermarket, but unless it's broke good chance you would have good luck cleaning up what you have and just replace the air filter . I've never had to replace tank grommets but would think Yamaha would still carry them or aftermarket would have some for a not crazy price . If you have trouble finding anything let me know and I'll see if I can at least find you a part number . Thanks for watching

Question, my 1700 sat for many years, I recently decided to get her going--- cleaned out tank, replaced petcock, pump and filter but she will only run with choke on, I thinking something is plugged in carburetor-- any thoughts?
@ClargoGarage
@ClargoGarage 3 дня назад
Sorry was on a big bike trip just getting caught up with everything, sorry for the delay. And good chance the carb could be gummed up abit , try putting some cleaner in the gas, I like "sea foam", I run a can through my bike every season (over multiple tanks) it might help clear things up. Also check the air filter , when they get really dirty the bike wants choke to run right and seems like its a carb issue when all it really is is a dirty air filter . I would pull the air filter out and check it and also look in the carb just to make sure there is no mouse nest in it, I've seen that on snowmobiles before running but treble and there's a full mouse nest in the carburetor, amazing it ran at all . I would start there , if it idles with the choke on fuel pump should be good . I know it's been a few days since you commented so your hopefully running good now , if so let me know what you found and if not check the air filter and go from there , I do have a video on taking the carburetor off and taking the bowl off the carb (you can access your jets from there if there plugged should be able to clean them out ). Hope this helps abit and let me know if your still having issues, thanks for watching 👍

Hello Jordan, I can't give you much news regarding the fires in northern BC. I can tell you that you will experience a lot of gravel roads.....even the road from Kamloops to Bella Coola is from what I hear not paved all the way. I live south, in Abbotsford, and most of the roads here are congested, as BC does not believe in widening major roads. You'll find that even the TransCanada from Vancouver to the Coquihalla has bottlenecks, that will slow traffic to crawl at peak hours. I still have my bike in storage, and won't be able to work on it for another month or so. How do I follow your trip: to find out where you are at?
@ClargoGarage
@ClargoGarage 16 дней назад
Hi Gerard, I'm not sure what to think of the fires seem to get different information depending who I talk to , will halfto make a judgment call when I get close I guess . That's good to know , I typically don't get too bothered riding on dirt , but when I'm loaded up for trips the bike is a bit more top heavy so definitely half to use extra caution for sure. If I stick to my plan and make it to Vancouver I'll be pretty close when I start heading back east . Sounds like Ontario, it's a slow go in Ontario mostly 2 lane 80-90 km speed limit, it's nice getting to other provinces where the bulk of the roads are 110km speed limits . How is the bike coming along, On the road before the end of summer ? hummm that's a good question I think on RU-vid I'm able to post pictures with captions , I'll half to try doing that Maybe or short videos that might work , wouldn't be real time but would definitely give an idea of how I'm doing for time , I'll try to do that , I'll probably try to post on Instagram as well , I get sidetracked sometimes and forget haha

@ClargoGarage 27 дней назад
Hey been a long time , everything all good with the family ? Did you end up looking into your balance/steering issue ? If so what did you find ? Where the steering knuckle bearings ok ? And I would grab a small ball pean Hamer (or any hammer ) and try a few light hammers on the end of the wrench in the loosening direction , if that doesn't work try hitting it a little harder , I've had that issue and that has always worked for me , have the closed end of the wrench on the plug so it dose not slip and strip the bolt head
@jonprain412

@@ClargoGarage I think the dealership when they did it the last time use a threadlocker on it, that's what I'm thinking. Maybe it's my tools I don't know or maybe possibly me I'm not the greatest but I can't get a closed in wrench with the available space there to get over the bolt I was wondering if it was okay if I put a little bit of heat on that. What do you think ?
@ClargoGarage
@ClargoGarage 27 дней назад
@jonprain412 heat would be my last resort, and if you do halfto not to much just incase it causes other problems or burns wiring , there's for sure horn wiring in that area and Maybe a sensor wire, can't remember , can you get a 2x4 or something under the kickstand ? Would give you abit more room to work and get the wrench in . They shouldn't of put lock tight on there .

Glad it helped, and thanks for watching!!! I have a video on removing it permanently, if you have issues with the bike not getting fuel , raise up the fuel line high as you can will help , and in a pinch blow into the tank to pressurise it , it helps to open the needle and seat if you do have that issue when the line is to low ( no pump we would have about 0.3psi and with factory pump it's about 2-3psi) I've been pumpless for about a year now and seems to be pretty good, took a bit of playing to get the bugs out of it but seems to be good . If you put a new fuel pump on get a OEM one, I've had a few people comment that they put an aftermarket one on and had lots of issues or they failed within a month and ended up buying OEM after anyways . Safe travels 👍

05 road star is just leaking gas when I start it. Rode it a little ways but died. Any idea. Just take carb off and clean or maybe some sea foam n pray...I'm a noob. But it is half n half new and old gas. Thanks
@ClargoGarage
@ClargoGarage Месяц назад
Can you tell where its coming from ? Two things come to mind leaking line / fuel filter/ fuel pump, would segest following your lines from the tank all the way down to the carb , cycle the key on so the fuel pump kicks on and pressurizes the system , if it's a cracked line it should be a visible leak, if everything looks good there could be your needle and seat sticking open and allowing to much fuel into the carb and flooding it, episode 73 goes over how to take the carb off the bike, and episode 75 will show you where the needle and seat is( might just be a speck of dirt holding it open, if so clean it out and should be able to reuse the needle and seat most of the time) . If the carb is flooding check your oil , if you get gas in the oil you half to put drain out the oil and change the filter before riding , gas in the oil can take out your engine. That's where I would start follow the lines first and look for the easy less invasive fix, before pulling the carb off, but good chance could be the needle and seat stuck open. And sea foam is great stuff, I run that in all my vehicles periodically, it's good stuff, I don't think it will fix the leaky gas issue unfortunately. Let me know what you find or if your have any other questions, and thanks for watching, safe travels

Thanks for the positive feedback! And thanks for watching! I have alot of videos on this bike (30 or 40 something I think now haha), I'm currently taking mine apart to check the valves (been awhile since I've checked / adjusted them) , there will be a video to follow. How do you like the Barnett pressure plate ? Did you do friction and steel plates to or just pressure plates ? I'm planing this winter on doing a new pressure plate , and possibly friction/steel plates, I'm still running the OEM pressure plate , was into it years ago and torqued it abit extra so it would be abit more aggressive but I can tell it's starting to get tired again (was about 100000km ago now) . Good catch , it's expensive to replace that shaft and pulley and it took forever to come in. Yes sir , I'm Ontario, but next month I'll be passing through Manitoba , planing on putting on 10000km in 10 days , I'll have around 200000km or close to it on my bike when I get home lol there a great bike , couple week points on them, but over all awesome bike

Thanks ! Just a cheap ish master craft maximum 3/8 drive (they go on sale at Canadian Tire every now and then ) it's a click type and the setting locks in place . I've had it for 7 years or so , and it's been good, it's almost to big for the really small stuff but long as you feel for the click action (really low torque settings can barely hear the click so gota pay attention to the handle pivot point) over all I give it a 10 out of 10 for what it's worth on the sale price . I like the click type , they are typically pretty good and easy to use, for smaller stuff 3/8 drive should work without being to much , for bigger stuff like car tires 1/2 inch drive . And some are in inch pounds and some are in foot pounds , it's a multiplayer of 12 to go between the two . Hope this helps abit and thanks for watching

I have a 2009 1900 Raider. If this is such a common problem with Yamaha, why do they keep using this type of locking system on the drive pully nut?
@ClargoGarage
@ClargoGarage 2 месяца назад
Thanks for watching, would half to ask Yamaha's engineers that one. But the issue is not the nut coming loose , it's the splines not holding up, most likely from not enough surface area , hard acceleration and deceleration eventually causes them to fail, and under failure the nut will still be tight. ( At least in my case )
@davidmasterson4329
@davidmasterson4329 2 месяца назад
I watched the video and then checked my middle drive pulley nut and it was very loose. I could actually turn it by hand. I torqued it and tapped in the slots but i am still getting what sounds like a grinding sound when releasing the clutch after shifting into any gear thats not neutral. Im pulling my hair out trying to fix this.
@ClargoGarage
@ClargoGarage 2 месяца назад
When mine had failed I had to put the transmission in gear and had to use a beaker bar to get it off. How many km or miles dose your bike have ? When you retorqued yours did you take the nut off and the pulley off to inspect the splines ? If I was taking a guess that could be where your noise is coming from , if it is you might get lucky and only half to replace the pulley , if the splines on the shaft are going, would half to replace both . My bike was making a odd noise for about 2 weeks , sounded like the clutch so I had ordered a gasket for the side cover and was waiting for that to come in then I was going to check them, before that happened the splines failed, almost made it home, had to push it the last mile.
@davidmasterson4329
@davidmasterson4329 2 месяца назад
It has 7000 miles on it. The splines on the pulley are fine as are the splines on the middle driven shaft. I haven’t pulled off the cover on the transfer case to look at that side yet. I have to drain it first. That’s tomorrow’s task. The noise is hard to describe. It’s like a mix of binding and grinding. I’ll record it tomorrow for you.
@ClargoGarage
@ClargoGarage 2 месяца назад
That's low mileage, I think mine failed around 90000 miles. Do you have access to a secure stand that you could run the bike on, might help to find the noise , could use a stethoscope or screwdriver ( one end on the bike and one on your ear works ok) might be able to pinpoint your noise, verify that it's coming from the transfer case . Keep me posted with what you end up finding , I get curious, and might help someone else out in the future. Definitely interested to hear the noise
