Really now? So i assume you let people punch you when you roll? No? Then you are in no way, shape, or form better equipped to deal with an attacker than any successful competitor because you roll with the same luxury/piece of mind that they do: which is you dont need to worry about getting hit. Its not what you train, its how you train...And if how you train is the same as sport, it makes no damn difference what your technique preferences are, if your live sparring (which is what actually prepares you for a live situation, street or sport) is being conducted under the same circumstances you have no significant advantage over any competitor. Floyd Mayweather doesnt need the shoulder roll to defend himself, as im sure Rafa Mendes could defend himself without the berimbolo.
