This is an election year, and we don’t do politics here. But we’re hearing all sorts of perspectives from across the political spectrum about whether Americans are doing better or worse than they were years ago. Clark cuts through the clutter to get at what’s really going on in a segment called Clarkonomics.

Brother Clark you are on point... I was born in severe poverty and agree with you 100 %. I discovered that the key to financial success is education, sacrifice and migration 😉. Joined the Army at the age of eighteen, stay in for 20 years, obtained a bachelor's degree and choose not to return to my impoverished place of birth. I've done well enough financially up to a point that I now consider inflation to be a good thing 😊. Especially when it comes to my investments 😊. I'm loving life right about now 😊.

You do not add relevant information... You just sound like you're bragging and not helping solve the problem that people are suffering from.. I'd be far more impressed if you came up with solutions for young people who are trying their best instead of gloating about the advantage of inflation in your portfolio.

Clark, you hit the nail on the head. One thing about our society is many people think issues are BLACK AND WHITE, ONE OR THE OTHER, A OR B, but in reality there are multiple truths to most complex issues. I see myself saying "both things are true" a lot more these days because people are so hyper focused on their situation, they are not understanding anyone else's perspective.

@@jdm1039 not that I saw and definitely not to the extreme we have now. Red Lobsters, Carinos,Cracker Barrel, Applebees , Boston Market, Denny’s, TGI Fridays, Crumbl cookies, (and many more) Nordstrom’s, Neiman Marcus, Starbucks and multiple car dealerships in several of the towns around here have closed as well as numerous Mom and Pops that we have seen around here. Food costs are too high and labor too high causes prices that the majority of Americans cannot afford to pay(which also adds to exorbitant theft -employee and external). Property taxes sky rocketed as well as insurance and fees. As a retired entrepreneur of over 40 years I can honestly say I wouldn’t open a business in these times because I lived through years of struggles with small businesses in difficult years.

So you are saying 20% upper class, 50% middle class,30% lower class. That sounds like the classic BELL curve. What would you suggest as the ideal distribution? The thresholds might change but you will always have the same 3 levels of classes. IMHO the critical question is “how bad is the quality of life” for the lower class? Would you rather be low class in USA or low class in a 3rd world country?
@JxBx80
@JxBx80 Месяц назад
Yeah it’s all a matter of perspective. It just depends on where and when you’re comparing our/your current conditions. Most of the frustration is that we’ve lost 30% of our purchasing power from 5 years ago. That’s a big difference. But, to your point, we are still living really good. Many could say that is a “cope” because, in our culture, we always strive to improve and the last 5 years has been a major setback.

Great overview of the the economy... I respect your perception of the US Economy... Except in ONE PRIMARY AREA. Clark believes investing in Gold/Silver makes sense for a % of your portfolio... BUT states only in a Gold/Silver ETF like GLD or SLV. These are Pure Derivatives (not holding real Physical Gold/Silver... just Paper derivatives) The USD devaluation and Debt situation makes these Derivatives a Risky and Dangerous devaluation. Why would you not talk about this and not promote owning the Physical Metal and not only the Bank Manipulated Paper held in the ETF's?. Maybe this is a "Clark Stinks" topic? Luv Ya Man...

@@mathgasm8484 - No. I have no problem with business or making money. However, business should not be allowed to have political power nor should they be able to shaft the worker. The best way to ensure that is the same method as was done in the 50s. To make the rich pay their fair share back to the society that benefited them so much. In 1950, the C-Suite made about 10x that of the average worker. That was fair. Today, those same C-Suite ppl make 400x of the average worker. That is an abomination.
