John continues his coverage with Clash of Steel. a new Miniatures game from Galeforce 9. this time he takes a closer look at the mission rules and how the game of Clash of Steel might play.. #gf9 #flamesofwar #clashofsteel
The beauty of the mission card concept is that you can very easily publish new scenario packs that bring attacker / defender roles and widely varied deployment and objective placements. This is a pack for the starter sets, but if it works out low-cost expansions could definitely be a thing.
Great explaination and informative video. I can see where some might like the simplicity of the mechanics and I'm sure the games won't last too long (which I suppose can be a plus+). Personally I'm still not sold on it and I hope this doesn't creep over to FoW or TY in anyway. I think I'll wait and watch a few battle reports before I make a final decision. I do love the American models (That T-29 is amazing looking). Besides, I have a backlog of FoW and TY stuff to build and paint. Good video!
Helpful video! This could easily be ported over to FOW! I think you are correct in terms of the 40K feel it has. Also, this might be a test for V5 to mix things up on the tabletop?
I don't think so personally. I think a lot of the tactical fun in Flames of War missions is the Attack, Maneuver, Defend mission mechanics. Where as this game is almost always going to be a head to head meeting engagement.
@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall I imagine can only attack/ maneuver for a battle plan. I find it interesting that the starter set of Brits vs Germans is a thing, but you really cannot have two starter sets that have the Soviets as one opponent.
Intressting. But I'll still not 100% in the mechanics of the game. Even if FoW just tries to follow some realistic approach (still just a game) this game looks really simple in this term and maybe not 100% balanced. But as long as it is fun there will be players. I'll give it anyway a try. But I hope that this isn't a test baloon for v5 as this mechnics look awful for combined arms gameplay.
