Clashes Inevitable: Chinese Warships Sail Near U.S. Ally in Show of Force in South China Sea.
China dispatched three groups of navy warships, including destroyers and a spy ship, to the Pacific Ocean through important waterways near the United States ally Japan on Friday, On Monday, two warships belonging to the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy made their way through the La Perouse Strait, heading east from the Sea of Japan into the Sea of Okhotsk, which is a marginal sea in the Western Pacific. These vessels were located to the north of the island of Hokkaido.The Joint Staff Office inside Japan's Ministry of Defense recognized their hull numbers as those of the Type 055 destroyer Lhasa and the Type 903A replenishment ship Kekexilihu, both of which are vessels belonging to the Chinese navy.
