Class 455 cab ride Caterham to Charing Cross 1989 

Took me back a few years. Went on a cycle ride from South Norwood in the 60's and got as far as Caterham. Decided had enough so bike went in guards compartment and travelled back to Norwood Junction. 😀

goodness this driver goes a lot faster than how i do…mind you we’re all stops now to bridge. i’m actually gonna be driving this way tomorrow and it’s gonna be crazy to see the changes especially around new cross!!!!

That section between New Cross Gate and London Bridge is vastly altered now and not necessarily for the better either.

Still had guards on the 455s back then. Also no AWS on the Caterham branch and no hustle alarms on the 455s.

You know you’re old when you still see a 455 as new 🤦‍♂️ Also, were those line side sheds always derelict? 5:22 😂 I have a clear memory of one in the Reading-Tonbridge line that was, or at least 1970s onwards It’s always good to see an EPB 11:45. So familiar. And yet to so many people viewing this video must seem like something from the Steam Age (cos, you know, they kind of are lol😂)
