Is Southeastern replacing some of the Class 465s. As the Class 707 cascaded from SWR is intended to enter service before the end of this year.

Yes, they are in storage at the moment..apparently 27 networkers. But in storage none the less. I do hope something good comes of them personally (this is me the video owner but on my normal account I chill on)

@@bb-3653 Southern need to use those to replace their remaining 455s and 313s

@@AymanTravelTransport indeed, personally I'd say they should be upgraded first beforehand. Maybe they'd hit 90 or 100mph with some mods. They are pretty light so it should be cool. And also some sort of traction refirbishment.

@@Solomon_C yeah but they are typically being used up by gx or gn. So who knows if the 387s would be a permanent fix either you feel me. It's better the devil you know i guess. Also if they gave 465s a refirb similar to the 321s It would likely be as versatile as the 387s or good enough to last for alot longer than they would In a prefrefirbished state, just depend on how much is willing to be done. There are a few units that southern could potentially take in theory. I.e the 379s if they are willing to install 3rd rail equipment. Apparently the 360/2s if they are also Willing to add third rail gear. Obvs the class 387s if the main operators are willing to use them interchangeably permanently. Or perhaps the stored 465s. Unless they want to purchase a bunch of new desiro cities , 707s I'd assume..the desiro cities are all basically the same even the 717s are 100mph capable it is said. They are all just different lengths etc. 700s are likely slightly heavier if they were 4 car units because of pantograph equipment.

@@Solomon_C well, if 450s can have them fitted, why not 360s? They are the same no? That's what modifications are for I'd assume. To prevent the electronic issues. Also with the 465s whilst it could be likely they may be scrapped, there's still potential for them to be used is my point. That's why I said "if they are willing to fit them with 3rd rail equipment" that would also require to modify electric compatability And yes, I'd hope if they ordered new units it would be the desiros cities. I much preffer them personally. Lastly with the 387s, whilst it may be true that iets have been fixed. GN still use them too, as well as GX. if the timetable required more gx service again then i have no idea what southern will use to replacce their 455s.

By the way...I have no idea why the driver decided not to go full speed , even though the line speed towards London bridge from sevenoaks is 80-90mph majority of the time. :^/ oh well

@Solomon Clarke indeed ! It really would be cool to see a overhauled modified /9 with 100mph gearing, accelerate. I wonder just how fast it would be !

@Solomon Clarke on the way there too, the drivers kept stopping in the 60 mph zone. Unless there was a train in front, id have gone the full 75 mph personally🤣🤣 it would be like my target goal everytime I hit a stretch of long distance track rated at higher speeds.

@Solomon Clarke as far as I'm concerned , the land isnt so even , theres alot of hills in the Kent region towards Rochester via the Chatham mainline . Like giant mile long inclines.

@Solomon Clarke usually they work the services via sole street, not always met cams though. And there arent too many trains on that line at once , so it should be cool

@Solomon Clarke usually they also do services 48 minutes past the hour. So for example "15:48 ". Download the national rail inquiries app and look out for trains to sole street, and there is a good chance itll be a networker that goes to gillingham. But be weary, sometimes electrostars do these services .
