The British Rail Class 47 was developed in the 1960s by Brush Traction. A total of 512 Class 47s were built at Crewe Works and Brush's Falcon Works, Loughborough between 1962 and 1968
They produced 2,750 bhp and were mixed traffic locomotives. This 3 part 3 hour collection, we see various examples at work on passenger, freight and then post services. The passenger trains seen is this video are mainly
Railtours and 'Footex' and 'Rugexs' which were special trains put on to get people to Football and Rugby games at mainly the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. The freight mainly Freightliner traffic on the Welsh Marches in the 1990's.
Part 3 is the Class working on Royal Mail post trains, until 2003 when the post operations ceased. Most of these post services would have been travelling from Wales and the West (Bristol and Beyond) and heading north over the Welsh Marches line.
Most of this footage is at Hereford and within the locality, and some further a field in South Wales, North West and West Midlands fimed from 1993 until around 2008.
