Class 7 Offshore Steelhead 

Great selection of steelhead spoons and good recommendations for steelhead fishing out in the big lake. We also find Michigan Stinger spoons very effective when fishing the Canadian side of Lake Erie out of Wheatley and Erieau, Ontario. The steelhead often have smelt inside of them that are the exact size of the Michigan Stinger spoons. Also, we find downriggers very effective on Erie along with free - sliders. Not sure why the downriggers work better here.

Great info. Thank you. Interestingly enough, I fish Superior and my number one steelhead spoon is a pro king blue lagoon magnum. I also have started running chain swivels ahead of my spoons and see almost no line twist. It seems even the best quality swivels cant always keep up for a long day of fishing. We actually had a steelhead hit at almost 13mph while hurrying to get to a river mouth. Talk about a drag screaming.

Nice stuff, Russell! Those stingers are just deadly!!! As far as plugs, I LOVE small size plugs in the mylar patterns.

Here on Lake Erie they stock the Manistee strain of Steelhead and they will absolutely smash all of the crankbaits we use for walleye

On erie I troll 3.5mph ground speed every trip. Always got tons of steelies that way. Silver streaks are the best spoons in my opinion
