I’m a Transportation Manager with many years of experience as a driver before I moved into the office as a supervisor. This video is by far the best professionally done pre trip inspection I have reviewed. What makes it so valuable is that you obviously have the knowledge to explain each step of the inspection in a clear and understandable format rather than just checking the boxes. It is important that a driver should know the basics of the equipment on his or her Tractor trailer. Thank you for your time and effort making this video!

Pennsylvania here and you will pass with this video. Other videos talk too fast and don’t go through everything. This guy does. I only been training myself. Yes myself for about a month now. My instructor who has been driving for yrs told me the other day I taught him some things 🤯. Out of 4 of us I was the only one that knew my air break test WITHOUT a truck. I did it in my head. Once I got to class I sat on a couch and taught the class. The instructor was very impressed.

I followed your tutorial and passed both my pre trip and skills test (brilliant video btw, very informative). But when I got to the road test I came up short. Turns out that there are different rules of the road for hazmat than standard (at least according to my examiner). Have a retry this Tuesday but I'm guessing as I couldn't find any info regarding the differences aside from placards, parking and railroad crossings (which I passed btw). Wish me luck and ty for your hard work.

Did you pass after reattempting, and if so, were you able to find out any differences if indeed qualifying with hazmat was a slightly different road test than the standard class a cdl?
@Jaehend
@Jaehend 4 месяца назад
@@arynpittaway9790 Yes I passed, thank you for asking. The examiner had set certain parameters regarding things like "safe gap" when stopping and clearance under an unmarked freeway overpass. I just watched the Old video. Now I am gonna watch this one. I am interested in driving, but there's a lot of information and I have ADHD, so thanks for the videos; I learn much better when I am seeing it and hearing the explanations and why it's important. And to be able to watch several times makes it sink in. I feel that this also helps with the anxiety of learning something new and attending school and not being blindsided with an overwhelming amount of knowledge.

I am a technician at Scania dealer and my check-list is almost identical, but divided as obligatory safety items, reliability (all systems) and resale value (exterior cosmetical dings, dents and scratches). It takes 20 - 60 min to make, depending on the type of truck (off the road, urban, highway). Many drivers only check tires. None check is required in the license test.

I'm new to trucking but I'd put something if that's all right. Excellent presentation - overall and general overview with clear delineation between what is required and what is recommended. That had to be my favorite part. I've been thinking CDL for a long time - having friends and family in the industry helped. What held me back was family and friends who had died in trucking accidents. I am BIG on safety. In only 1 of those accidents was the driver found at fault (which I feel attests to the high quality of the industry). Interested in the necessary, MORE interested in what is SAFEST. I felt like this video directly addressed all of that for this topic. Memory aids, like acronyms, are great. That helped me a lot. Repeat, highlight, summarize - excellent teaching technique. Works great for me as a learner. Calm, direct demeanor. This helped me to feel closer to being in person rather than watching a video. Not at all demeaning or condescending. I'm one of those life-long learner types and part-time teach myself. This video is one that, if followed by example, teaches how to teach as well as instructs on a specific subject. Amazing work, y'all. Thank you!

Fantastic video, but I would like to add a few things. Now, I took my CDL test in Texas so the first two points could be state-specific, but it's better to be safe than sorry when you're trying out for a whole career and it certainly can't hurt you to implement them, so why not? Give yourself the best odds! - When listening for odd or suspicious noise(s) through your window(s) during your in-cab inspection or you just happen to have your window(s) open during any of the other test portions (road test, backing), be sure not to let any part of you hang out of the window. This can be seen as a safety issue. Personally, I just lowered the windows a few inches to prevent the possibility of that occurring while still having the benefit of hearing any noises should they happen. - When doing your in-cab air pressure checks, do not touch the parking break valves during the emergency brake function test (seeing that they pop out on their own between 20-45 PSI). I was told by my instructors that they have personally seen students fail because the test examiner considered the possibility that the student may have pulled the valves out either intentionally or by accident rather than the valves popping out themselves. - When placing your wheel chocks for the air pressure test or really anytime you place them (roadside issues and the like), a good trick is to place them at either end of a steer tire rather than using your drive tires. If the truck rolls and settles on one of them, it can take some persuading to dislodge it from beneath the tire with some good heel-kicks or a hammer. If you place the chocks on the steer tires though, you can simply turn the steering wheel side-to-side a few times to push them both loose. No hammer or heel-kicks needed! Good luck everybody!

I really like this videos teaching. I'm going through the 160 driving academy here in Illinois and seams like they want you to know a lot more unnecessary words, plus there in cab inspection is completely upside-down. Wish I was in this state and going threw your school instead of IL. Getting a CDL in IL is a joke. I passed everything and now I'm working on the in cab inspection wich is a disaster 😔 Only if I can transfer from this school to another.

GA still have A-B-C or F is everything! Then in cab and brake test !some miner things changed but still you have to mention everything with extra words!like PMS Properly mounted, and secure NCBB Not cracked, bent or broken NMH Not missing hardware ABCDF No Abrasions,bulges, cuts, dry rods, or freight DOG No debris oil grease or ice for steps and cat walk. Not leaking for what ever lines that holds air or fuel or water. Plus you have to mention all the clamps,bushings,washers and nuts and bolts and seals.they give you 2 hours for pri trips,incab,air,parking and driving but of course you have to pass pri trip before going to incab and brakes then if u pass those u do parking and if you pass then last is road. Thanks for your video!I basically passed by watching ur 8 years ago video and I’m going again this week for taking off my stick shift restriction . Also GA is not S A L E only A is applying that u cant loose 4 PSI in 60 sec L low warning and buzzer at 60 psi E emergency brakes pop out 20 to 45 psi.then is a thug test.

I noticed during the new pre trip law you didn’t mention anything about air break parts like.. slack adjuster, push rod, air chamber etc.. so non of this is on the pre trip now? I will be going to school to take my CDL in the near future and Illinois I act like I know what I’m talking about but that is come along with a lot of research and watching videos of pre-trips in the past I will find out if Illinois did adopt the new pre-trip law, it definitely seems a lot easier to pass. I’m really surprised they don’t require you to check the rear bumper DOT tape or some of the other previous free trip modules.
