At OCC old pickup trucks have long been a favourite, and American pickup trucks in particular have always appealed. In this collection, 110 photos of Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, International & other pickups from the USA are gathered into one place, most of which I've photographed at various shows here in the UK over the last 20 or so years.
The older trucks in particular are our favourites, ie those of the 1950s and before, although examples built upto the 1980s feature here. The "Job Rated" Dodge pickups (1939-1947) and the "art deco" Chevy pickups of 1941-1946 are particularly great IMO. While the cars of the 1940s-1950s era grew ever more outlandish and became more and more dazzling with lashings of chrome and gadgetry, the contemporary pickups retained a workman-like vibe and didn't become too over-the-top in their styling, despite being updated year on year in many cases. Of course these old workhorses soon found favour with modifiers and customisers, and many examples did end up dripping with chrome appendages, shiny wheels, huge V8 engines and trick paintjobs, but for most, they spent their days in their factory specification, worked hard, and offered great practicality to their owners. Both standard and modified pickups feature in this upload, let me know in the comments if you have any favourite makes or eras of pickup truck.
While the Old Classic Car channel primarily sticks to content about old cars, it does occasionally veer into other transport-related subjects, shows and museum visits, so please take a look around before you leave.

Not wishing to take anything away from the shiny, restored trucks, I feel that the old oily rag examples with a rust patina look more the part. Thank you for an interesting video, and Happy New Year to you Richard!

Favourites: #1 1:27 Studebaker Transtar, #2 6:49 International D2, #3 28:03 (Dodge) Fargo. The rounded 50s pickups are the best! 😁👍

Thanks OCC - another great vid, ......... the mid 30's to late 40's styles do it for me, .......if I had to pick just 1, it would be the red International.

Agreed that International was amazing (maybe without whitewall tyres though)

@@oldclassiccarUK I can only agree on the tyres - which I don't like on anything.

I love the all blue Chevvy at 3:20 circa 38 / 39 cute and original looking. Not a fan of the custom pick ups, but one has to include them I suppose.

For style I have to say Chevy gets my vote. I do like the old Fords design though. The white Chevy at the end reminds me of the Holden my brother used to own, also in white, Holden being part of GM but closed down in 2017, very sad. I do like a nice paint job on a truck myself. Am a bit bored of the patina look now but that is just me having been in the custom car scene. Thanks Rick for putting together such an excellent collection. 👍👍I think I already said it in a previous post but Happy New Year to your family.

At 34:34 the diamond t yeah I guess,,,,, they rushed through to find any pickup box even if it didn't match the front fenders and what is the deal with the high pickup box ??? I wouldn't make a truck like that ... Keep the videos coming ...

You need to know what your talking about before you display your videos on RU-vid. Just 2 examples is the one you didn’t know much about was the 1969 or 1970 chevy pickup. You can tell by the front parking light placement in the grill. And for example another one was the 1954 chevy pickup had the grille replacement in mid season. Seems as though you are just throwing these out there to see if you can make some money. The younger generations wouldn’t know much about these old classics but us old school guys would know all about them.

1967 and 1968 chevys trucks have the parking lights the same in the grill and 1969 and 1970 have different parking lights but still in the grille and 1971 and 1972 chevy moved the front parking lights down to the front bumper. Out of these 6 years the body styles pretty much stayed the same.except for the front parking lights.

I never profess to be an expert in anything, and actively invite viewers to chip in with corrections and additional info. Given that few of these things were ever sold here, and I have little interest in American vehicles after the 60s (I've owned earlier going back to the 1920s) I'm happy to admit there are gaps in my knowledge.

@@oldclassiccarUKMy earliest was a 1940 ford couple. But anyway that one Chevy pickup that you said you thought was a 1968 or 69 wasn’t. A little research helps. 👍
