Most of us know our Dickens from our Austen and our Bronte's from our Hardy but what about the books we don't know much about, or if we do, only know of them in a different form? #Bookbreak guest host LucytheReader takes a look at six classic books you've probably forgotten about.

It was Katherine Hepburn in the movie African Queen. I love the book and the films and TV series of Around The World in 80 Days including the new series with David Tennant. I first saw the movie with David Niven as a child and my Dad got me the book. Love it! I was given a beautiful hardback leatherbound edition of Les Miz, by my Dad when I was in College, it could never be forgotten by me, enjoy your read.

Katharine Hepburn (not Audrey) in The African Queen. 😊 Wonderful movie. Wonderful book.

Begging you not to be offended, I was actually disappointed in both. I only post this in the belief that respectfully expressed dissent CAN be a good thing, and makes for a livelier stew. :)

I have all of those books in the Collector's Library editions with the exception of Les Miserables. I have than one in an unabridged Everyman's library edition. Of the seven, I have only read Around the World in Eighty Days. Loved that one. The others are on the 'to read' list.

Les Miserables might be huge, but it's definitely worth a read, especially for fans of the musical!

Can I just say how excited I got when I heard the words 'Prisoner of Zenda'? I absolutely adore this book and the cover uses a frame from the 1937 film version, which happens to be one of my favorite films of all time. Ronald Coleman is brilliant as the two Rudolfs and Douglas Fairbanks Jr. is such a charming Rupert of Hentzau that you can't even be mad when he gets his way sometimes. The best part is that way they play the characters (and the whole script) is very close to the original novel. Have you read the sequel, Rupert of Hentzau? There's also a third in the series called The Heart of Princess Osra (which is a little harder to track down). I'm always surprised Anthony Hope's books aren't talked about more now, considering how many he wrote and how popular they were (especially Zenda).

Forester also wrote the Hornblower series, the life of a sailor, from Midshipman to Admiral in Napoleonic days.

Delafield was a great author and is sadly under appreciated today. I love her.

I really like The African Queen film; I didn't know it was based on a book. It's Katharine Hepburn in the film, by the way- you said Audrey. These editions look beautiful. I've made a wishlist solely for the titles in that collection that I want/I'm interested in.

Just to let you know, that Les Mis is abridged. The original version amasses to more than 2000 pages.

I consider H.G. Wells’ novel “In The Days of the Comet” (1906) a lost classic. In it, the narrator is in a murderous rage chasing down his rival, while the nations of Europe are deploying warships and are about to start a world war. That’s when the Earth passes through a comet’s tail containing a psycho-active chemical, rendering everyone on Earth unconscious. When they awake hours later, a great change has taken place. Every person on earth has become… SANE!
