I remember watching "MONSTERS" every Saturday at 6pm on WGGT-TV. The episode where meatloaf glaze a guy who sold body parts from a freedom fighter to rich people only for that freedom fire to come back and take his organs back with my favorite episode.
Eerie Indiana, Are You Afraid Of The Dark, Monsters, Goosebumps And Tales From The Cryptkeeper Are Still The Best Supernatural Shows That Us '90's Kids Still Can Enjoy.
I absolutely love eerie Indiana , it's a yearly watch for me which I partook in a couple of months back . There isn't a single bad episode in there and it's very hard to pick a favourite but that has to go to the Lost hour. It's a shame there wasn't more from Marshall and Simon. In the UK The Broken Record was the final episode played after Reality takes a break. The other dimension isnt anywhere near as good but ok all the same
I actually auditioned for Are You Afraid of the Dark back in the 90's! My uncle is a actor on the CBC and arranged it for me. I had a callback but had to drop it when my family moved suddenly.
OMG, I'm glad somebody finally mentioned it; when 'Disturbing Behavior' was originally released, one of the first thoughts that popped into my head was "this is just like that 'Eerie Indiana' episode! =D
Good choices all around on your favorite "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" episodes. "The Whispering Walls" in particular has this waking nightmare feel to it where no matter where you go, something spooky is going to leap out at you. The reason the show's held up as well as it has (much better than "Goosebumps") is that D.J. McHale and company treated their audience with respect and actually went for genuine scares. There are episodes of the show that are creepy for adults, a couple of which you mentioned here. There's also "Dead Man's Float" with the pool zombie and "Dark Music", which has such a dark denouement that I still amazed it was allowed for a supposed kid show.

"The Tale of the Twisted Claw" was creepy the part where he wished for his grandpa to be there and realizing hes dead and knocking at the door. "The Tale of the Twisted Claw" was also another creepy one
Local station where I lived played Tales From The Darkside and Monsters midday weekly. I'm not sure if it was like that for everyone, but it was a great hour.
Nice choices, really loved AYAOTD and those episodes are good ones and I have gotten my kids into that as well...also a huge flashback when "I feel the fear" played. Monsters was another nice anthology with some great stories that flew under the radar.
Monsters freaked me out as a kid, but I remember Holly being a lot bigger. Another episode that stuck in my mind was set in a police station. These cops are investigating a string of mysterious attacks resulting in amputations.The big reveal at the end, which in retrospect is kinda goofy, is that the chief was amputating body parts to make a team of frankenstein's monster cops. Undead cops that cant be killed. I suppose it was one of the first exposures to body horror as a genre.
I was born in an odd year. '93. As a result, I wasn't a teen for these shows. I didn't even get to see Eerie, Indiana. This is the first I'm hearing of it lol. I'm definitely gonna watch it now. But are you afraid of the dark holds a special place in my heart. The first time my butthole puckered at anything horror related was that show. I was maybe between 5 and 9 when it was popular. I remember refusing to watch with my feet on the floor because I was afraid a monster would pull me under the couch and eat me 😂😂 but I loved it, still. It sparked my interest in horror. It's why I explored horror movies at a young age. Going from TV horror to the likes of Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger was nearly traumatizing in the best way lmao.
When I was about 8-10 years old from 1988-90 I remember staying up late at night just to watch the show monsters and I would get so angry when mash or night court would come on instead and then that meant it was time to go to bed lol Now in my 40's I actually like mash and night court lol
I’m surprised no one has mentioned the show “Bone Chillers” I remember my mom randomly got the VHS from the library. That show was severely underrated.
I enjoyed the Are you Afraid reboot movie with TopHat man, but never checked out the new reboot, I have such a fondness for the original series though. About a year ago or so I went on Paramount plus and rewatched all of the original iteration of Are you Afraid and so much of it holds up. One of my favorite series of all time
7:25 Marshall didn’t rebel against Daylight Savings Time. He was from New Jersey which had DST at the time, but Indiana did not. Marshall was shifted into another dimension by setting his watch to DST 👍🏻
And EESH, the "Ghastly Grinner" 'AYAOTD' -episode creeped the HELL outta me, and that was when I was at an age where I thought I was too mature for that kind of thing! It was like the "Joker-Fish" episode of 'BTAS' crossed with a Romero-style zombie-flick! My worst nightmare! (at the time)

I watched Eerie Indiana this last year and it's damn good. The only thing that aucked was it is unfinished. I think I avoided it as a kid because it didn't come on ABC and it didn't come on Saturday mornings or Friday nights. I assumed it was a crawly adult show. I was addicted to Are you Afraid of the Dark, insanely creepy. I watched it before I put on USA Up All Night and tried staying up all night.
Some of those shows aired here in Australia i remember being like 9 or 10 and watching aeon flux which technically isnt a. Kids cartoon/animated show eerie indiana i think was shown but it didnt last long mind you some shows that were shown in america in the early 90’s weren’t shown until afew years after are you afraid of the dark was shown here mid to late 90’s all great shows
I'll join. Seriously I'll join anything when someone is completely amazing about the good of the 90s tv for us kids. I'm 34 and proud I got to experience real tv as a kid not this over the top colorful crap 😂
the original snick line up was salute your shorts, clarissa explains it all, roundhouse, ren and stimpy then are you afraid of the dark. i may have mixed up clarissa and roundhouse but thats the original lineup.
I know there is always that danger of networks trying to copy previous success... but considering the recent Goosebumps series and some of the new Are you afraid of the Dark iterations...I would not mind a limited series Eerie Indiana sequel, with the right people involved...
I have the first 5 ayaotd seasons I bought through youtube, but for some reason I can never find the later seasons 6 and seven. Does anyone know where I can stream those seasons? Also love this video I'm actually gonna Binge some of these tonight.
Love the video.. brought back some awesome memories.. Hate to be pedantic but that is not Joe Dante in Eerie.. It's the actor who played Blinkin in Men in Tights and Zack Morris hired him to play his dad in saved by the hell! 😱
I hope i don't come across as one of those "back in my days" person, since I haven't watched actual tv in years, but comparing shows like this with the ones I had in the 2000's, they feel like such a downgrade. It has always irked me to see characters like hannah montana or icarly go abour their perfectly mediocre lives with nonsense problems didn't make me laugh as a kid, it annoyed me to no end to see how wealthy and disrespectful they were. And if I compare that to shows like this, where the things feel way more grounded and real, the way they are shot is interesting, and they don't fall into random quirks for laughs, it makes me nostalgic for this era of tv.
Newer seasons are you afraid of the dark suck in that us later 90s early 2000s. But the most recent show i dont think so. Just like the series of goosebumps on Disney plus smh.
Eerie Indiana is so good, it holds up extremely well today Are You Afraid of the Dark was great at the time, the acting hasn’t aged so well in many of the episodes though. Monsters is awful, i think it’s one of the worst anthologies I’ve ever seen
I need to watch Eerie, Indian again. I have not watched that show since I was a kid. I watch the Adventures of Pete and Pete every couple years, as that was a show I watched a lot as a kid. I did not watch Eerie, Indian as much as I did Pete and Pete.
The 90's had the best kids/teens shows. Now me trying to get my daughter to think that is a whole other story lol but I still gotta share them with her!
