My first Job at 15 was at Mongomery Wards as "British Sterling Engraver" during Christmas! We had to wear the "peasant type" dresses like the women in their commercials- 1974..engraving personal names was unique and popular concept for 70's...great memory! Thx 🎉

i am 59, i have used british sterling since is was 16. the best cologne every. nice clean smell. better then that sandle wood, or some cream type. now i have to order it on line. thanks for showing..

I remember seeing that British Sterling on my uncles dresser when I was just a wee lass and I always thought it was the coolest looking bottle. I wanna say that I even took some and rubbed it on my hands which then rubbed on my clothes thinking it was cologne. Hahaha you live and you learn. Great video Ken!

I just found an old bottle of the speidel in my dad's bathroom and he let me have it. I figured it would look cool on my chest of drawers next to my watches and stuff since I never wear cologne, but now seems like a safe time to try wearing it with everyone 6 feet away. Regarding your dad, I don't begrudge anyone feeling patriotic... But paul revere was a narc? I mean,if anything, benedict arnold was the narc. The Americans were the cool kids, hanging out behind a dumpster, smoking weed, and trying to figure out how to build one if the greatest countries in the history of the world. Paul revere was the look out who was like "put the blunt out! The teachers are coming! The teachers are coming!"

Nice video, Ken. TOBS Grapefruit is one of my favorite shave creams. My older brother is a British Sterling fan, he's been using it for decades.

Great video Ken, back in the 60s my brother was a manager of a jewelry store, he would give me a bottle of British Sterling with my name engraved on the bottle every Christmas, loved British Sterling !!!!!

The Rocket looks to be quite similar to its contemporary, the Super Speed, at least the handles appear to nearly identical.

I remember my Grandpa using this stuff when I was a kid. I had a couple of small bottles. One of the AS, and colognes as well.

This is a really cool series Ken. I remember for Christmas maybe 80 or 81 had an aunt and uncle who gave me a Speidel bracelet with my name engraved on it, was actually pretty cool! I didn't know Speidel had created British Sterling, that was a well known after shave at the time. Keep up the great job looking forward to the next one.

Good afternoon Ken! Yes, the series continues...great job!! I have some English Leather shaving soap cakes, but no British Sterling anything. I believe the TOBS Grapefruit cream has been discontinued, but I hope you do find a tub. I love the old commercials. Those English made Gillette razors do shave nicely...smoother than the US counter-part. Yeah, the guys at the bowling alley just won't understand why you smell like a dandy...lol. Enjoy.

Great shave Ken. I've not seen that in forever & it's been nearly 5 years since I've used TOBS. I forgot that I started using traditional shave soaps & creams in 2013.

Found your channel completely by accident. Have recently waded into the wet shave pool and the waters fine! I just ordered some vintage aftershaves off ebay and this was one I cant wait to try. I may very well get the TOBS Grapefruit shave soap as well. Is it glycerin based? I ask because I've been using Col Conk lime shave soap and Royall Lyme aftershave and the combo is fantastic together

Great shave. Imagine today's prisons still use Gillette Psycho razors, it would be interesting. I wish the British Stirling still had engraved names so I could keep one with my engraved name. I hope someone out there makes a soap and aftershave based on British Sterling

Love it when you tell us about your dad! Makes me a little sentimental and reminds me to spend more time with my dad and how lucky I am that he is around. Unfortunately he was an electric shaver ^^ I recently tried an Astra blade, that i never shaved with even though I had them for 2 years or so. I think they are the sharpest and smoothest I have tried, sharper than feather even but still smooth. Have you used them lately?

Ken, I still have a bottle of British Sterling light Musk after shave in my medicine chest. In the commercial, it's the one out front in the display. Although the top "cannister" has since come off. & I don't think it ever had anyone's name on it. Now light musk by them, Who would that be made by?

I really am enjoying your videos. When I first saw the British Sterling bottle, I thought of my dad, rest his soul. I seemed to identify that scent with him. I even recall his initials engraved on the metal shoulder of the bottle. You really do make enjoyable videos. I had a high tech company for 14 years. I sold it and became a bum for a while. I always used an electric razor, but I hated it and grew a beard which I kept most of my adult life. Well I remarried (long story.... but a good one if you ever have the time...) and I shaved the beard off with a Gillette Mach 3. Wow. Better than an electric. Eventually I began to resent the Mach 3. Why did I always have to use Gillette's over-priced blades?? It seemed like us guys were getting shafted. Could I do better?? I mean I was in business for many years. Why not try? After a year of research I found a company in Sweden to make the raw blades. They are ground on rolls of steel. Then I had them shipped to China (I know....) where they are assembled into cartridges. I created a quality 5-blade cartridge that I could sell 30 of with a razor for $12 Canadian! That is about $.73 USD. (LOL) So I created a website called 30blades.com. (At first it was called Shavemama.com.... its a loing story too. Perhaps I should have stuck with the concept, it was funny. Then IU tried to make the site work. Lots of traffic. No takers. And now I have a super delemma. You see along the way one of my suppliers (Baili) sent me a DE razor as a present because I am so obssessed with value. It looked so shiny. For a couple of weeks we just admired one another. Then I noticed that the Baily blade was actually made with US steel. So I figured I would give it a go. Bad mistake. Now I am absolutely hooked on wet shaving. My business plan has kind of gotten confused lately and I have a growing collection of DE razors all under $20! I added many to my store. Still no sales, but I am having lots of fun. PS - please don't buy anything because unless it is drop shipped I am not currently in a position to deliver anything (again a long story which will change in the coming weeks....) So I have a standing order for thousands of razors and cartridges. I was trying to do a noble thing and seriously save my fellow men from being extorted by Gillette. Now I am steadfastly convinced that DE is the way to go. If you check out the site, please forgive some of the cheezy videos (although the commercials in the main product description I think are funny in a strange, yet unconventional way. I hired a consultant who concluded I should K-Tel (remember them... how about Popeel ??) my products, but I have it all wrong. Anyway, please check out the site www.30blades.com. Omg Ken!...KEN! Please do not rape this poor TOBS cream lol. You better scoop it out of the container. This is not a hard soap. Never understood this strange "technique" although even TOBS themselfs say you can put your wet brush into the cream. Great shave though=).

I'm a new subscriber and i like your videos. Can you recommend a good double edge straight razor for beginners? I'm 37 and didn't start shaving until 1998. Double edge razors were gone from the grocery store shelves at that time. I would like to get a close shave for cheaper than the Gillette blades I buy but I can't find a decent prices DE.
