It's that time of year and a chance for the Big Bertha (BMW R80G/ST) to try and make a decent showing at the Valley Xtreme Big Bike Race. The bike was a lot better prepared this year, with upgraded suspension front & rear (www.hyperpro.com). The only downside is they made the course a hell of a lot harder! Lots of Adventure Bikes struggled on the hills
I met two Honda Transalp enthusiasts who first told, then showed, how good an off-road bike it can be. Richard (@rustynuts82 ) hasn't brought the Velocette, but he has brought his excuse book, and is back on the BMW R100RS Scrambler instead.
The race result holds a few surprises, as well as an important lesson in preparing an airhead for racing!
