Donkey Kong JR. review. www.ClassicGameRoom.com Shop CGR shirts & mugs! www.CGRstore.com Classic Game Room reviews DONKEY KONG JR. for the Nintendo Entertainment System which was originally released to the arcades in 1982!!
When I was a kid in the late 80's, I would play this actual Arcade Machine at my local Video Store. S&R Video. I loved this game. While I was waiting for my mom to finish talking to the owners/friends after picking which game I wanted and whatever movies we were getting, I would get a couple quarters and play a few rounds of Donkey Kong Jr. I think it may be my favorite too, but I do remember loving me some Donkey Kong, one of the 1st games I beat.
Great port, one of the best home arcade ports of an arcade-sytle game.... Actually improved on the sound effects to a certain degree (no cut scenes or intro scene however)
One would think, but Cranky is the new Donkey Kong's grandfather, making him Donkey Kong the third. It's not explained very well because the original Donkey Kong Jr. was never used very much. It's mentioned briefly in the Donkey Kong Country instruction booklet and the Donkey Kong Wiki.
That was actually one of the launch titles of the Famicom (the NES in Japan), along with Popeye and DK. Think of it: DK Jr. came out in arcades in 1982 and its arcade-perfect port was out on the Famicom only a year later. The delay between arcade release and its perfect port was even shortened to a few months in the case of Mario Bros. (which was released in Japanese arcades the day before the Famicom and only a few months later in its Famicom version).
WOW,that is exactly like the arcade. Can you tell me if there are virsons of Donkey Kong(original),Jungle Hunt, and Zaxxon on N.E.S?? Great videos,Thanks Gio.
I actually have the Donkey Kong Classics cartridge that features both Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr. I also have the lesser known Donkey Kong 3 game and even a math game based off of Donkey Kong Jr. called Donkey Kong Jr. Math so I believe that's all the Donkey Kong games you can have for the NES but you can correct me if I'm wrong
I have that too, actually Mario Bros was added onto all the Super Mario Advance games, I wish they would have added Wrecking Crew and Mario's Cement Factory, it would have made it more of a complete set, instead of just the same game 4 times
Lately, when I hear "Junior", I think of the creepy son of Big Rennie in "Under the Dome". And don't rag on Pokemon, because, thanks to NintendoCapriSun's LP of "Pokemon Saphire", I'm starting to get into it...at 39 years old!
DK Jr.s mom is the late Wrinkly Kong, who we meet in the DK Country series after the original DK has grown into Cranky Kong. Wrinkly is his wife. No idea what she thought of the whole Pauline affair.
I have the actual arcade system of this in my room and it is hard as SHIT. I think I've only gotten to level 4 in the past couple of years be had it. So it is pretty damn celebratory whenever I can actually dodge all the birds and living bear traps.
PETA would flip out if they found out about Mario ,trying to kill baby apes ,DK as a pet ,killing turtles ,crabs ,squids ,moles ,fish and a rare spices of mushroom called goomba ,whipping gators as wepons
Same here :) The Mario vs Donkey Kong sequels are not good answers at all. We need more games where Mario and Donkey Kong rivaled each other, not mini Marios and Donkey Kong. We need games like the Donkey Kong arcade games, Donkey Kong 94(GameBoy), and Mario vs Donkey Kong (GBA). Nintendo needs to make this happen.
