Shatterhand review. www.ClassicGameRoom.com Classic Game Room reviews SHATTERHAND for the Nintendo Entertainment System from Jaleco and Natsume from 1991. In Shatterhand the player punches out waves of enemies, robots and bad guys in this underrated 6-bit platformer from the early 90s with some serious 'tude! Just check out the sunglasses and rad expression on the game cartridge! Collect three power ups for punchy the shooting robot whose help is essential in clearing levels in this challenging, well made action game for the Nintendo Entertainment System. CGR Shatterhand video review has Shatterhand gameplay recorded from the NES videogame console.

Some important points worth mentioning: 1.) In order to get a lil robot buddy you have to collect three letters, which are either alpha or beta. Depending on which combination of letters you pick, you will get a different robot with different abilities. 2.) If you collect the same sequence twice, you will become a "Dynamo" which gives you an ultron-esque suit that grants you not only fireball type projectile, but also 10 seconds of invincibility. 3.) Holding down and pressing B (while in possession of robot buddy) will allow you to use him as a jetpack. Oh, and if you're desperate; you can throw him at enemies while in jetpack mode. Fantastic game by Natsume/Jaleco!!

Just about everything is perfect, I mean the soundtrack, the enemies, the bosses, the level design. It's just one of those games that for one reason or another was never too well known but is a true hidden gem :D

Natsume was an underrated NES developer. Shatterhand, Shadow of the Ninja, Abadox, S.C.A.T.: Special Cybernetic Attack Team, Power Blade. They made some badass games.

This might be the best-looking NES game I've ever seen, the graphics are crazy detailed! I like the fact that you only have your punches as weapons, you have to keep in mind that gamers actually enjoyed highly challenging games back then. It's curious that Elevator Action was put as Video Response, because this and that are perhaps two of the best games I've never seen/heard about before but now I know about them thanks to CGR =p.

Yeah I was wondering that a couple of years ago so I did some research and found out that Jaleco was bought out by a company called Game Yarou in 2009. Also Jaleco was a subsidiary group of a company called Jaleco Holdings who are still around to this day.

Something something Solbrain is actually the original japanese version, this was a typical 90's localization that actually WORKED. I love this game so much I can't even describe it properly. I'd get a NES just for this one. Jaleco was an unsung hero of videogames. They knew what they were doing. Also Shatterhand... generic music? Mark! What are you talking about?! This has the best non-Mega Man NES score EVER! It's up there with Journey to Silius! Otherwise, good review, as always :)

I love this game. It is one of my favorite NES games of all. Although it has the title of a cheesy kung-fu flick, the game itself is awesome. It is one of the better games in the cyberpunk genre. I got this game back when it was released in 1991. I held onto it for 7 years and played it, beating it more times than I can count. My favorite boss in this game is the one I call the Gravity Ghost.

The Famicom version was based on the Japanese Tokusatsu series Tokkyuu Shirei Solbrain.
@LondonOntGuy
@LondonOntGuy 12 лет назад
It's Tokkyuu Shirei Solbrain, based on the TV series of the same name. Produced by Toei, responsible for Kamen Rider and of course, Super Sentai. One thing that I've always wondered is why they changed the one stage in the localization. I can see stripping it of it's original storyline, since Solbrain never aired here in the west, but changing that stage was odd. If you liked this game, you'll probably also like Chojin Sentai Jetman, which was also developed by Natsume.

Very underrated platformer, but not as much as the epic game known as Journey to Silius, from the same company that made Blaster Master and Batman. That game pushes the NES to its limits on music. I bought the game after listening to the opening title music. I didn't even see any gameplay footage. Best of all, it's an incredibly hard game that's only 5 stages, but it's hard for all the right reasons. You've gotta check Journey to Silius out, Mark. The game's insane.

@RadicalRomReviews
@RadicalRomReviews 11 лет назад
Basically yes, but you have to understand the different levels of complexity we're talking about. Every game ever made has what we could call a "graphic engine", in that it has code that determines what is presented and how objects/input interact. Within, and sometimes across, different game companies, lines of code would be shared to expedite the process. This meant literally a few lines of code. Today, given the exponentially increased complexity,

there are six boxes with special parts per stage, meaning you can get 2 drones (1 at a time) per stage... but if you create the same kind of drone, you get to have an armor with a hadouken thingy for a limmited time. in the game I played when I was a kid, he was already have an armor and riffle as a bonus. also, those drones can be used almost like jet packs and you can throw them at enemies... although that damages them. wonder what game variation I played when I was a kid.

Yeah, I've known Toei for quite a while now, lol. I think they might've thought a fun fair wasn't "dark" or "appropiate for the west" enough. What I do find -very- odd, is that they changed the theme song for that stage as well. There's absolutely NO reason for that. Either way, adds to the replayability of both games. Also yes! I do like CSJ! Angel developed it, though (I think). Since you're cool I'll return the favor and highlight the other half: Play E.D.F. by Jaleco. It's GLORIOUS.
