Such a down to earth guy, chilling out on a busy beach when everybody in this country would have recognised him. I had the honour of meeting Buster in Blackpool as a kid with my Gran. A 7 year old me really thought he was Uncle Albert and the entire time I spoke with him he was in character. He was one of Britain's funniest actors ever, a genuinely nice guy! ❤️

For Buster to say those words about David just shows what a really nice and genuine guy David is. Buster had some of the funniest lines in the show. And as uncle Albert, he was perfect. There will never be another comedy like OFAH.

Looks like it was filmed in Bournemouth or Poole as Buster lived pretty close to both of the town's. He did a great job as Uncle Albert and the funniest one ever was when he went "Uhhh" too early when pretending to be Shocked at Rodney. He never aged in the show either.

Not to criticise leonard pearce, i just think actually what buster brought to the show in the end was greater. And also because once an actor is in a role, the writer(s) tend to write for that person playing that role, as the writers of dad's army confirmed, and buster gave john Sullivan more opportunities as a writer

I live in Bournemouth and so did Buster. I can remember as a teenager Buster would often drive around Bournemouth, Pokesdown, Southbourne and Westbourne in his open top red Rolls Royce with a sort of uncle Albert cap/hat on sometimes with family, but only in the summers and on clear blue summer sky days (prob cos of the rolls Royce), I can recall seeing him quite a few times driving about in the summers of 1988 to about 1995/96, most of the areas you would see him were in the seaside parts of the town near the beach so you often saw him in the slow moving beach traffic or at may of the traffic lights, we would always shout 'hey, uncle Albert!' and with no roof on the rolls royce he would always smile, wave and say hello. Sadly missed :(

I've seen every single episode at least fifty times and I could watch them all fifty times more and still never get sick of them and never fail to laugh. I even remember being at school and the science teacher showing us a special educational episode of Only Fools, about oil. Thanks for this video. Buster had such enormous shoes to fill when he replaced Grandad, he pulled it off perfectly. I think it worked because they didn't exactly replace Grandad but filled that gap with a different but equally as great character.
@frandevereaux
@frandevereaux 2 года назад
Exactly. I’m the same. Doesn’t matter how many times you’ve seen them, you know the gags off by heart but they never fail to make you laugh. There’s not a comedy on the planet that can do that apart from only fools and horses.
@poppycock31185
@poppycock31185 2 года назад
@@frandevereaux Exactly. I wonder what it is? Apart from the fact that it is so well written and so funny what makes it so uniquely re-watchable?🤔 And I really do mean it when I say unique. There are shows I like even more than Only Fools but I can't even watch those shows the same way I can rewatch Only Fools. I can literally watch an episode and then watch it again that same day and again the next day and laugh as much every time. Do you think it's a British thing? Because as working class brits (or brits in general) we find it so relatable?🤔
