every bit of rust cut out is a step closer to completion. Glad to see you're still moving forward on this. Could do with some of your motivation on mine!

Coversills should be made illegal! You see so many "restored with no expense spared" Minis for sale, for top money too, and then you see .... the coversills. Some people still defend their fitting, but there are no good reasons for using them, its just storing up problems for someone else to fix in the future. Well done for all the quality work you're doing, and for taking the time to do a proper job :)

Thanks! Lots I would do differently next time but it’s a huge learning curve on my first restoration project, I have learnt a huge amount already….. thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻🚀

Good job lad. Just a word of caution with MPI floors my man. Watch out for the array of inner area studs that support Fuel Lines and Heat Shields on these later models. These generally rot out the floor and when combined with the usual outer sill/floor issues tend to justify a full floor replacement. Just conscious you may not have picked up on this yet with the way you have the car supported. Just finishing off a 1998 MPI Cooper Sport myself and happy to offer any further support to you.

Thanks Clive! I have tried to be carful with the threads for the fuel line, at least 2 for the heat shield will be removed holes welded up and then I hope to use stainless big headed threads that I can weld in place or bond through a small drilled hole from inside the car. I will have to reinstate 1 fuel line thread, do you know what size this could be / thread size? Still such a long way to go 😬🤘🏻

@@PocketRocketGarage Sounds like you'll be good lad. Mine was a high miles unit with over 112K miles on the clock. Looked to me like the original heat shields were mounted flush to the body and trapped moisture. This resulted in some large areas of rot I then had to deal with beyond just studs. I've used some standard course there studs for both head should and fuel brackets. Nothing special just plenty of seam sealer and paint! I've replaced the heat shields with a basic dimpled alluminuim material which is easy formed and I'll be mounting stainless spacers to keep it off the floor panels.

Do the fuel line threads have a standard thread size? I can’t remember what screws on, it was so long ago I took it all apart

@@PocketRocketGarage Not that I recall. The fuel rail plastic bracket has an integrated plastic nut. I've used course threaded studs and it winds into this just fine.

Hats off to you sir, the repairs you've done especially on the lower quarter looks fantastic! Thats a hard one to get right without lots of filler. It always takes 3 times longer than you want but one day it will be finished to a very high standard and you should be very proud 👍🏼

I just hope to get it solid underneath with the best repairs I can achieve…. The next mini on the channel will be a show car 🤘🏻🚀 Thanks for watching Mark

Brake cleaner gets stickers and stuff off mate. Glad to see you're sticking with it and cracking on! 👌Inner and outer sill to first flute should do the job from M-machine.
