Classic Mini Restoration / Recommission Project Part 1 - Lots of Common Faults 

Mini owner from NZ here. Enjoyed the video and looking forward to the more in depth recommissioning process. Have just started looking at resurrecting a 1980 mini 1000 that has been off the road for about 20 years. Was purchased as a parts car for my sons Clubman which we finish as a father and son project during lockdown. Decided whats left is too good to break up and with classic mini prices being sky high over here it is worth doing. Any way thanks for putting in the effort to document this and I am looking forward to the future episodes.

I got the +100 1098 pistons for my '78 Mini BMW Twin Cam conversion project from Calver ST. Really nice guy and very helpful. But that looks a really nice place to do your work. well done.

Just subscribed as I have just bought a 1988 mini Mayfair .just all the welding done underneath ,not really to bad ,gonna try to do as much work myself , if not will farm it out . But really enjoying working on it . Good vids , am watching with enthusiasm. Well done sir 👍👍👍👏👏👏

Thanks for the video. It is very interesting to watch a more professional approach to fixing Classic Minis. I have been tinkering with Minis for decades and have a couple of examples at present but I am always happy to learn something new. Your mention of the correct way to install the front rear subframe bush on a post '76 Mini was informative as I was unsure about the orientation during my last rebuild. Mr Haynes wasn't very helpful and Mini Spares show it the wrong way round in their exploded diagram. So, one of my cars have them fitted incorrectly. I must swap them round sometime. If you are looking for a topic to discuss you could try the subject of a pre-verto clutch and how to get it to disengage adequately. I am struggling with mine and I know two other Mini enthusiasts with the same problem. If you weren't so far away (I live in Cheshire) I would happily pay you to fix it!

Do you do restoration on other cars like Subaru Impreza?

Dont get an old mini if you cant do majority of the work yourself ... never understand people having to pay thousands for work done.
