Lovely to meet your Major, very smart indeed. I like the sound of possible future plans too. You nailed the intro, clearly placing the Major as it features in the f-frame series of Moultons. I don’t suppose you have any low-mount front carriers surplus to requirements? I have everything else I need (lights etc). Just lacking a front rack to complete the potential of the design.
They never folded, they separated, so maybe the joint broke or was not tightened. If not tight they can separate while riding, which usually ruins the frame.
Keep as is and find yourself a matching outfit! It oozers style and would be an amazing bike to ride along Blackpool prom in the summer evening sunshine
I know what you mean but that’s exactly not my style. I’m really struggling with that colour scheme. In the long term I think it will either be returned to something more grown up and authentic or someone else of different taste can ride it around while I find an original one.
I got really interested in Moulton after getting my Mini back on the road about a year ago, including changing those bizarre and very clever rubber springs (which had completely turned into rock over the years) for some new ones. Then read his book, and tried to find some videos about the bikes on RU-vid. This one you have just made is easily the best I've seen. Looking forward to the full history video!
There isn’t much. I’m thinking of doing front and rear suspension overhauls on video, or at least dismantling and reassembly. I’ll have to practice first though, as it’s been nearly 20 years!
My earlier deluxe had badly aligned swing arm pivots and that cracked the frame! I rode it daily for 2 years, and it stood up quite well (after being reframed - under duress from the factory) but it didn’t seem to me to be a good distance commuter due to the lack of flywheel effect
I've just bought a Mini Minx for my grand daughter, and the handlebars are too high. To lower them, is it necessary to losen the big nut (the one you tightened up in the video) and the small nut at the top? Thank you. PS lovely Major, looking fwd to your history video.
Small nut on top. A few turns. You will probably see it rise up. If so, tap it with a light hammer on a piece of wood until it drops flat again, and the bars will be loose. Tighten it again and then you’re done
