I had to add this conversion kit to my 66, as the previous owner, when adding the fog lights, just spliced them in with the headlights. That install was causing my headlight circuit breaker to constantly trip and the result was essentially no headlights. Install, with the help of the CJ Pony RU-vid video was super straight forward and easy...perfecto my friends....perfecto!!!
Good video Bill. Only the circuit breaker doesn't need to be grounded there is no continuity between case and internals.. It can be tie wrapped to any place handy. I always wrap tape over the metal studs just in case a chance of touching a ground.
Great video thank you. Question. Isn’t the wiring underneath the dash supposed to also connect to the instrument panel, or does hooking it up to taillights automatically make the instrument panel turn on? I have a true GT and it was messed with n I’d like to get it right. Thanks
Did you call that a 'circuit breaker'? I thought that was a relay-solenoid that switches power to the fog lamps. A relay is usually used to switch on high amperage lamps. With out that 'relay', the fog lamp-switch would arc and prob burn up in a short time.⌛
I have these secured to my 65 convertible but it’s a little loose. Meaning, you can easily move the light in the bracket. Only tension holds it centered. Is that normal? TIA
Did Some of Early - Mid Year 65's Have the Toggle Switch Below the Dash Panel?Looking @ One on Video Says Prod.Date of May- June of 65 ,Don' t See it on Panel
Yes. The toggle switch below the dash (There is even a factory hole for it, but the factory never used it..but Dealers did.)..were Dealer Installed). The cars with the switch and hole to the Left on the Dash were Factory installed. Bill, In this video chose to mount the Fog Light Switch in the Factory Installed location. The hole for the "Dealer installed location" is already pre-stamped into the Dash right under the dash on the Left Side.
Why do you all call those fog lights? They are additional lights, not fog lights. If you drive in the fog and turn those on, you will blind yourself. Fog lights need to be close to the ground to illuminate the road ahead and not the fog/humidity particles in the air that will blind you....
