I remember almost being forced to watch that Clash of champions match on TBS because we could not afford the Wrestlemania 4 pay per view. I was a big WWF fan then and though NWA were second tier wrestlers because of how they looked compared to, Hogan, Savage, Wonderful... i recall being in aweful of Flair and Sting after watching that high quality match. In fact, every mstch on the card were to notch matches. When I finally got to watch the taped version of Wrestlemania 4, i noticed a substantial difference in the quality of matches between WWF and NWA. This is when I became a big Rick Flair fan. That Flair/Sting match was classic.
@@toddmorrissey8372Akshewly guyz, it’s Richard Fliehr ok I was his neighbor in Charlotte then he was my uncles best friend in Minnesota during his AWA run - not to brag but I’m the one who told him to stylize his name as Ric Flair he still buys me a drink every time I see him and says thanks Todd you mean “MORE”issey to my career than anything. I owe you pal.
I bought this when it 1st came out. The two things that threw me were watching him talk with a dip in and dropping the F bombs. Wasn't offended mind you, it was just weird to me. GREAT interview, probably one of my favorite dvds of my collection.
@@adamvannicola7421 good question 🙋🏻♂️ I’ve been asking myself that as well. I’m trying to read the website or whatever it says in the background. If you, me, or anyone who reads this can figure it out google that include Ric Flair interview and hopefully that would tell us what year this is.
@@adamvannicola7421 I just read it was released on RU-vid in 2020 but it says it was over a decade ago the interview so I’m guessing maybe between 2010-2013. I’m on it though lol it says 10 hours total of interviewing him. That’s an insane amount of perfection and classic stories from the nature boy. Love it ❤️ just tremendous it never gets old
@@adamvannicola7421 the company or website is called high spots and it says shoot interview 2009-2013. Not sure why it just doesn’t say one year but that’s all I got at the moment. Hopefully you can have some better luck than me if you search a bit. Great question though man. Whooooo! 👍
When Luger came back to WCW in 95 they’re way off, Bischoff didn’t overpay pay Lex, he low balled him with I think a $150,000 a year deal thinking he would say no way but Sting convinced Luger to take it and get a 2nd shot in ATL and he def way over performed that contract
I'll always love Ric Flair, doesn't mean however that I don't sometimes feel incredibly disappointed in Richard Fliehr. From 1:10:00 to 1:15:00 Flair is asked about Arn & Tully coming back and their pay and he as usual casually goes over the fact they made ⅓ & possibly less with a shrug. Flair only gets upset when Herd is involved and slighting his ego. How about insisting Tully & Arn be paid commiserate with their talent from 1985 onward Naitch?!?!
Vince had heat with Macho Man Randy Savage, over the Slim Jim contract. Vince fought him over $$$$ for the Slim Jim contact and lost. Held a deep grudge with Savage for a very long time, thus no action figures and other royalties from Vince.
That and also, Savage agreed to return to the WWF in late 1996 only to renege on the deal at the last second and return back to WCW. A lot bitterness over that one
Rick flare were I'm from in Georgia a legend it broke our heart when he went to wwf but we knew why and didn't blame him one bit.the 80s and the nwa was the best of wrestling
@@rodzordon’t tell David what do! He’s a big strong boy, he can make financial decisions all on himselfs! But maybe suggest it to his mother as a birthday gift, it will be a nice surprise for him!
I’m so glad flair stayed with the crockets as long as he did that was awesome time in my days and I love that time 80s 90s nwa and world championship wrestling was the best going in that time and weather you like it to or not well every body love it 😍
2:08:50 Ric Flair explains the lLoyd's London Insurance policy in WWF 1992 & how-to avoid paiding taxes on money..Flair said he can't say who he was with a female who accompanied him to the doctor visit Flair doesn't want to get her in trouble, was it Elizabeth? Jim Crocket buying Bill Watts territory (UWF) in the late 1980s/early 1990s very very very similar to Tony Khan buying a large majority of Ring of Honor.
I love how Ric talks about Bret. When Flair breaks it down like that it does make sense. I totally understand Brett's point of view that Flair does the same match every night. I just think Bret is overall more skilled as a wrestler no matter what.
One of them works Buddy Rogers's style, one works Dynamite Kid's. Take your pick. Both treat pro wrestling seriously as a holy storytelling and athletic medium. Bret is a better person by leaps and bounds. Harley Race towers over both of them.
9/25/87 (JCP) Detroit, Michigan: Joe Louis Arena JCP Debut in Arena: (World Wide Wrestling TV Taping Aired on TV 10/.3/87) The first time Ric Flair meet Scott Steiner backstage with his family.
It’s interesting when Ric runs through the WWF top wrestling talent that he leaves out Bob Backlund. I understand his point, and the differences in style and fan base popularity, between the NWA and the WWWF/WWF AND he makes good points.
I appreciate he is pretty open and honest, it doesn’t really show him in a great light. His political plays, his “it’s me or him” ultimatums… he did in fact walk over so many people and he’s actually just like so many have said. I can’t say I’m disappointed because I’d always thought that was how he was, he portrays himself in the ring and that’s why he was so good at what he did, he wasn’t working, he just did what came naturally…. Sadly we also know about many other sickening things today and it’s such a shame that his legacy will be remembered for mostly those things…
3 hours of watching him spit and drool in a bottle . the commentary was great , but did he give a crap he was on camera ... or not because he got paid , regardless . damn .
Sunday 10/5/1975 Wilmington, NC:Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling airplane crash with Ric Flair. Sunday 10/5/75 (MACW) Asheville Asheville North Asheville Civic Center: Tag Team Match-: Ric Flair & Gene Anderson vs. Mr Wrestling (Tim Woods)& Paul Jones. Ric Flair return to MACW 1/30/76 after airplane crash.
Uhhh he had a stroke….that’s why he had to retire. Flair couldn’t lace Bret’s boots in all honesty in terms of in-ring physical ability, and I’m a Flair fan.
Not giving Ricky Steamboat return matches for the NWA title sent the signal that Ricky was never gonna be the top guy . Same thing happened with Ron Garvin . I was not excited by Garvin winning the title but he was never allowed to prove he could be a viable Champ. Looking back that was a mistake . Another mistake was never putting the belt on Tully Blanchard who in my opinion was the best in ring performer and heat magnet in The Four Horsemen .
I love FLAIR, but sayin Bret didn’t wanna give up the belt is bullshit. He didn’t want to lose to Shawn m, who is notorious for not dropping the title when he is supposed too. But he says Bret didn’t wanna do business. He had “creative control” in his contract but know one talks about that… fuckin haters
@Hhgh Fhhfh nah he had creative control over the last 30 days of his contract. When he tried to bury the hatchet with Shawn and said he'd have no problem putting him over, Michael's replied with thanks but I wouldn't do the same. Bret then exercised his creative control to not drop it to Shawn in Canada.
No Offense I love this chat but it seemed more like an Interrogation than an interview from the way and style of the questions to the demeanor of Rick Flairs answer's. LOL
