Classic RTT, Warhammer: Dark Omen - 01 Trading Post 

Absolutely, I always think it's a real shame that the game is actually so difficult to get running, because it's one that people should absolutely go out and play for themselves.

I'm really grateful you enjoyed it! This game had some beautiful features that just made it magical to play, I liked the permadeath mechanic, the sound design, even the billboarding of the sprites. Yeah I did a lot of Populous content, I ended up as staff for the multiplayer community which meant I gave a lot of time to it's tournaments. I also ended up improving my own play from that initial recording.

That's quite the information that actually I'm super interested to read. I've always felt that these two titles, Dark Omen and Shadow of the Horned Rat, really had a phenomenal amount of attention to detail put into them, they really did well to tell tales of fantasy that you wanted to listen to, even if one or two voice actors were uh... Less enthused. Thank you for telling me about the Crossbows! Really, little snippets of lore like that I simply adore!

Thanks! I always try to do any game I play justice. People can look at old games negatively but I like to tell a bit of the story, we can often thank a predecessor for something we hold dear! I always think of Alone in the Dark inspiring Resident Evil for example

Love the story! I was never able to buy this myself, my parents didn't really want me gaming so the only reason I got to play it on PS1 was because my dad liked it. So I used to sneak on it when he wasn't around, but I didn't ever get close to finishing it. This playthrough was my first time finishing the game! I'm inclined to agree with you. For me I've found Total War: Warhammer lacks that beautiful roleplay of desperation that you get from these more story intense missions where every man is valuable. Something about the way units all had leaders with personalities really got to me. Combined with all the "we're under attack" "help us" and "we fear the enemy" voice lines. And yes I have accidentally shot my wizard many, many times.

Yeah I had the PS1 version as a kid too, I used to cheat for instant reload, then spend the whole mission firing cannon shots infinitely. That was the strategy! But this game never explained itself too well. Took a lot of figuring it out for me to beat this game, for sure even now.

Completely agree, my oldest friend and I still quote this game to each other periodically. I never made it to the end without using an invincibility cheat on the bright wizard haha, but I would love to have another go if it was rereleased. If I do I will use these as a reference. Still the best warhammer game for me!

I wasn't that good at it myself! I used to cheat when I was a kid. But this felt great to come back into and finally conquer it!

Klaus Zimmermann is the 'mentor' to Morgan, it's believed (at least from a Lore Perspective) that he isn't in Shadow of the Horned Rat because his 'training' of Morgan predates even that. However, I personally think it is more a matter of, they just wanted to add additional characters for Morgan to have interaction with. There's not a lot of detail about Klaus, amusing though his presence is.

@@lovenjigaming3517 Thank you for responding, they could've added Gunther Scheppke in "talking head." He was the one who launched Morgan into mercenary and he's the second in command. (Even if i understand that being the leader of the Grudgebringers infantry he could die in battle and it would be a problem for the story lol.)

Getting this game to run can be a challenge, but definitely worth it!

Some enemies will drop items, it's fixed as to which enemies will drop items and if they retreat instead of being wiped out they will drop nothing

You'd have to go onto the fansite and follow their instructions to the letter.
