About bloodytime you Brits "discovered" our great Canadian guitars ( Godin, Larrivee and Boucher, though Jean L. moved to Oxnard California a while back ). I have 19 Godin guitars ( we pronounce them Go-dan here FYI but I kinda like the Kings' English you use ) and love them all.....really like your playing and videos, keep it up, eh! In case you're curious I have both the Art and Lutherie parlours ( nylon and steel string, the 13th mahogany dreadnought they ever made ( by Robin Boucher's uncle in 1973 or 6 ), a Baritone, a classical, a cutaway folk, an LGXT, session, exit 22, stadium, freeway, multiac acs, multiac, an A and L 12 string, a Montreal, a fifth avenue, a seagull and I'm missing a few others lol! I've been buying them since I was seventeen when I walked into a store to buy a Guild or Martin but walked out with a Norman that I thought sounded and played better. That was over 50 years ago. Wish I could play as well as you though. Great stuff!
Thanks! I nearly bought a Norman years ago (Wish I had now..) but I hadn't had a chance to try many Godins as you don't see them much over here. Now they've got a new UK distributor I'm looking forward to working my way through the range... 🙂
I honestly haven't come across a bad one their prices have gone up recently but i always thought they were underpriced and great bang for the buck.@@bensmithguitar
Hello, good morning, I hope you are well, I have some questions, I hope you can help me. I have this guitar and the strings are 0.12 to 0.53, they are very hard for me because I use arpeggio a lot and I can't do it well with that tension. The question is: if I change from 0.10 to 0.46 if there is a significant difference in smoothness? Is there a difference in the tuning? Can the neck be decalibrated?
In my experience, 10s on an acoustic aren't that satisfying to play, as there's not enough tension there to move the top enough. You could try 11s? I'd recommend taking it to a reputable local guitar tech/luthier for a setup, and maybe see if they could lower the action a bit for you? Easy to tweak the truss rod though if you did just want to try it out.
Gibson designed the slope shoulder dreadnought i think. It is so funny that everyone tries to reproduce the gibson j series of instruments. But we all know the scenario,gibson is way over priced and still you might get a bumb guitar. Canadian guitars are very,very good. I think they have that secret cash of old tone wood. I have heard it said that they have the good woods for building ,just waiting in reserve.
