Sitting at work watching your old videos haha, I already hand load but just bought everything to start casting. You definitely have some great lead melt videos. It sucks that YT hates 2A so much, I know they specifically hate boolit casting

Been using Lee 3 hole turret press for years been considering going to 4 hole turret. I load 270 Win, 9mm Luger, 45 ACP and 45 Colt for myself, and 223 Rem, 7.62 X 39 and 357 Mag for relatives Plus I also like all Lee products.

nice review on the turret press. I don't have that press yet. a little trick with the hose I do with the classic cast is take the cap off the end and run it into a coffee can then u never have to empty the tube and didn't need any clamp to hold it on.

If you’re just starting at reloading get a Classic Lee 4 head Turret press if you can afford it. But before you get the classic press kit if you’re on a budget the value press is a good kit. I wanted to say I started with the value kit. Either way you will not be sorry. Either one is much easier to set up than a Dillon press, and if you’re just gonna crank out 50 or 300 rounds for a range session this is the press for you. I’ve had mine for six years and I know now that I am starting to recover the initial cost in savings for ammo.

I have the same press and love it! Only negative thing I have to say about it is the handle, it needs a roller handle!

Wish I would of seen this before I bought my Lee Classic Turret, you did a great tutorial. I don't lube my cases if I'm using a carbide sizing die. But I make sure my cases are clean. I just don't want to clean lube off of finished rounds. They go straight into ammo boxes after loading lol. I do all my case prep including priming on my rifle cases, so I usually do rifle on a single stage, slower but I'm more finicky on rifle.

I was thinking what first press should I buy but Lee Turret wins for the price and simplicity. Thanks Elvis! I love your channel.

For the price, you cant beat that press, I have used one for years.... no complaints...

The cheaper one has a shorter OAL for rounds and doesn't have a cast steel base. The largest round I load is 7.62×54R and they load just fine in the cheaper one so I got the cheaper one because that reason. I've had it since 2014 and I've been happy with it. If I could go back I'd definitely just get the classic turret press tho.

I love your videos. And FC 45. You both are down to earth and easy to follow, thank you both for sharing your vast experience with the rest of us. I have all colors on my bench, but am a Lee fan as well. That turret was my first "upgrade" from my challenger and it is a great press. Mine sits between my Loadmaster and my Dillon 550 and gets used just as much. Keep up the good work my freind!

Hi Elvis, I had a Pro1000 for 9mm and hated it. I could never get it to run well. I now have 2 Classic Turret presses. I got my second press from a friend who couldn't be bothered to reload his ammo. I use 1 for small and the other for large pistol primers. I only use LEE for reloading and casting. Thank's for another great video.

hey BZHprepper... the little experience I have with the pro 1000 that was my feeling too. Some people love them. I didn't .... But I do love people that can't be bothered with reloading their bullets, and I cash in on their equipment!!!! Best to you My far away friend!!!!

Hey Dr . El , Would like to add that I have had one of these press,s for year,s and it work,s great . If you apply a film of oil on the turret where it rotates against the steel housing , you would not believe how much smoother it will operate . The same go,s for the ram . It is a very notable difference .

After weighing my options, I ended up going with the Classic Turret kit. For ~$200 you get a good chunk of what you need to start reloading. The value press is made with lower quality metals.

The lee classic turrent press is my favorite lee press. You can load a good amount of ammo with it and its very easy to change from one caliber to another. The Lee Classic single stage is another good press. The lee pro1000 is my favorite for 9mm even though I can not prime on the press.

Years ago I had a Pacific turret press. Probably one of the first of that genre. Didn't like it. The only solid point of attachment of the turret was the center bolt. Result was that the turret would flex with any cases that required more than token resizing. It was fine with carbide pistol dies, and quite convenient when loading more than a few rounds, but rifle cases would flex the turret and you had to be extra careful. I must say, though, that I like what I'm seeing with your press. Looks like my issues with the old Pacific have been well addressed, and it also looks like my automatic overlooking of these presses should be reassessed. 😊

Elvis, I just recently got this press after using the Lee single stage one for a couple years, and I love it! I haven't tried loading my rifle cartridges on it yet, but will soon. I've probably loaded 1000 rounds of .380, 9mm, and .45acp all without a hitch. I also cast my bullets from range scrap then pc them. I have one question though....what Lee mold do you use for your 9mm and .45? i have the "2R" shape....didn't know if the full round one would run in my semi autos. Thanks for the vids.

I have that press but the primer feeding part SUCKS! I use the Lee auto-prime #90230 so have to size and de-prime the shells in one step, then prime and set them aside for loading later, so I don't use all the die holes when loading. I do need to get an additional single stage press and feel that processing all your brass one step at a time might be faster rather than futzing with the primer thing on that press.
@karenmills759
@karenmills759 7 лет назад
Another great vid. Very good info. There are 4 of us reloading at the same time. We are using single stage rcbs. We have 8 of them. Might look into changing to a new one. Let you know what we decide.. Very good job, Like the commit about you wearing a white lab coat. We have a question again. We loaded 223 with our load data but changed primers. We loaded 10 rounds each.... Small pistol, Small pistol mag, small rifle, small rifle mag, and match primers. Crono did not show any difference in the speed. No problem with brass or primer back out. We are doing 9mm and 7.62x39 next and then the mag pistols. What is up??? BTW loved the Ballistic vids... Also a good friend of ours just got a 50bmg We cannot wail to shoot it...
@elvisammo
@elvisammo 7 лет назад
Hey Karen Mills.... Good to here from ya! I like the progressive press for my High volume pistol rounds, like 9mm ... You can always make a huge pile of them and do the same for other calibers to stock. Just a thought. I wander if they make them Lab Coats in camouflage ! : ) .. To the primers. I imagine the only real changes might be in pressures only. But I haven't done much in the way of primer changes. I have even heard of velocity dropping by adding a mag primer? go figure....It is good to know... In a pinch you can use what ya got! In most cases not all, primer back outs are caused by decreased loads. Thats why there are warnings on minimums somtimes. It was nice to see what these bullets are capable of in that gel huh!.... You'll have to let me know what ya think of the 50 BMG....Until next time.... Thanks for watching!!!!!

I hope you are not roll crimping the 45 @ACP because it head spaces on the rim of the Case. If you are going to crimp please use a light taper crimp die. Also the pistol dies have a carbide ring inside the sizing die and you do not need any Case lube at all. Hope this helps.
@elvisammo

Hey John Smith I use a very light crimp just to take the flair back out with the factory crimp die. No roll crimp. I back the seating die out and just seat the bullet with the stem then a light crimp with the crimp die... Fine and dandy!

elvis ammo I love the Coffee can lid thing.. Those work excellent, The hold just the right amount of brass, bullets or whatever you need them for. Handy for small parts in disassembly for firearms cleaning too. I see that cookie uses them as well. It's a "nonya" thing However what do you do for a living anyway? If you don't mind me asking. I understand about privacy so you don't have to go in to details. I've been working for the Navy for 35 years and looking at retirement soon within the next couple of years. It's been a long haul. Btw,, I have sold more of those Presses to my friends than you can shake a stick at,, All of them are extremely Happy with them. and most of the guys that I know that have problems with the primer feed just feed them one at time, You have to reach up there anyway.. It it in their 2018 catalog but their website is not showing it: leeprecision.com/product-catalog.html Titan reloading shows it pictured but not available: www.titanreloading.com/lee-precision-reloading-equipment/lee-presses/lee-turret-press/lee-4-hole-turret-press-w-auto-index I am not fond of the primer seating primer holder blocking my view. I wish it was off the side out of the way. The lever mechanism in the ram works great.

So, if I wanted to wet tumble a 9mm to clean the pockets, would I have deprime them, Lube them (9mm is hard for me to do because of the case design) for resizing, then place it in the press to begin the process?

Is that shotgun powder your using on those 45's?
@elvisammo
@elvisammo 7 лет назад
hey d Klawbohr. .. yep. it's common that a lot of fast burning shot gun powder can be used for pistol powder. it's in the data book... good stuff. I like it in 9mm and have used it for 38 as well!

use a factory round to set the bullet seat
@jayinla228
@jayinla228 4 года назад
WRONG. Factory bullets COAL length determined by the powder THEY use, refer to a manual for proper seating depth depending on powder you're using.

There is no 'N' in turret. Please pronounce it correctly and kill that dam rooster in the background. Yes I know this is an old video

Stuff always goes wrong when ya got an audience, heh. And as for all the uneducated folks who only know one way to pernounce a word, when you are dealing with a Lee press with a top that spins in circles you are dealing with a turrent press. When you are dealing with a main battle tank with a main gun that rotates around and blows stuff up you are dealing with a turret. When you get in the groove with yer turrent press you are dealing with a torrent of ammo. A free lesson on handloading nomenclature for y'all.

I thought you got through that pretty well. You know that you can sit there and make rounds all day with out a single 'hitch' but, just as soon as you turn that damn camera on ...the mind goes blank and tries to think of the next thing your gonna say or do...while your fingers fumble around trying to perform the task at hand with the mind absent...what the heck am I doing? You had me laughing my ass off as I was anticipating the exact troubles you were having...damn that was good! When you dropped the primer arm I started 'snorting'...glad I wasn't sipping my hot coffee at the moment! Cameras are as much trouble as a bad girlfriend or a toothache. Good Job there Elvis...charlie Hey, I was the 777'th view and the 66'th thumbs up...in poker that's a good hand huh?

hey Charles Irby... good poker My friend! Man you got me laughing telling me about how you were laughing... I'd say it was all worth trouble! the snorting is where it all starts getten good! : ) Sometimes everything starts to get slippery! but ; ) thats when the fun happens... thanks for having a laugh with me! I got your bullets coming out on video tonight!!! I think you'll be happy with what you'll see!

1930's vintage Lyman 358-430, it came with two pin sizes, one deep the other shallow (depth). Those you have, I made with the deep pin ...gives more material to flow out and around forming a big mushroom...or at least they do in water...were gonna see about the gel?

Hey, Elvis! Great review.....i love my Classic Turret too! Hey, have you heard of the Inline Fabrication add-on system for it? It's fantastic and almost turns this press into a progressive! Really increases speed with a reverse rotation rod and a case kicker. Take a look: inlinefabrication.com/collections/lee/products/case-ejector-for-the-lee-classic-turret-reverse-rotation Watch the video there, too. If you havent tried it (maybe you have already), it's a great value add-on. Might be worth a review, too!? Lol! Thanks for your work again.
