you know why? mystic story is a sub company under SM so somewhat BILLLIE is a SM GROUP 😭😭 but at first listen even though I heard a lot of SM songs it still felt unsettling and new but I loved it.

The moment I first heard this song start, I just KNEW it was a lock for you guys to react to. It's so different and interesting, and it sets itself well apart from the rest of the current K-Pop scene by taking a distinctly J-Pop approach. It's the kind of psuedo-hyper-pop sound I expect that market to enjoy, and to bring that into K-Pop is so great. (Oh, and lest I forget, the incredible addition of sampling Carol of the Bells, of all songs, to underline their message. Insane.)

Mystic Entertainment never let their artists get bored. Like Brown Eyed Girls went on 4 years hiatus, but when they released a new song. It's absolutely a Kpop's best vocal-jazz hit. I swear. And for this Billlie. Lee Minsoo oppa worked so hard on this song, please cheer for him and Eana unnie too. They have stayed with these Mystic artists for a long time.

Maybe because Billlie is Brown Eyed Girls' little sisters, maybe because Billlie has producers that actually know how to work with them to make the girls shine, maybe because ring x ring remind me of Faky's discography or maybe because Billlie has that it factor. Anyways, I love that you have place an ear on them. Easily one of the faves of the year.

I'm not a music person in the traditional sense. I couldn't tell you a G from an F, but you guys still managed to put into words what it is that caught me about Ring x Ring when I first listened to them. Especially when the PD said that she can't connect their sound to a previous group/debut. There's something special about Billlie!

Billlie reminds me so much of f(x) in how weird and tonally different their music was compared to everything else releasing at the same time as them. The alarm ringing sound has the same effect as the ringing in rum pum pum pum. I've waited so long for a group that was just different enough to bring back the cool and innovative sounds f(x) used to bring to the conversation of kpop, and it looks like Billlie is up to the task!

k/reddit really ripped through this song (in a bad way) i think because they mightve been expecting a soft, indie vibe, from their predebut content. but im glad you guys can technically explain how PHENOMENAL and unique this song is!! i believe once kpop stans get over the initial shock they'll grow to appreciate this song too😄 hopefully billlie continues with a similar-ish sound

Thank god you guys reviewed this. I was going crazy with some non-musicians reviews that it was jarring without giving context to what the group was trying to convey which I personally think is the desperation/confusion over losing a good friend in mysterious/tragic circumstances. And good on Umu for noting the uniqueness of the Billlie sound. I read someone describe this song as an Alfred Hitchcock soundtrack if Hitchcock made a movie today. Thank you, ReacttotheK!

I think this song was mixed badly for performance on kpop music shows... I watched them perform it for weeks and the lead synth line was so prominent and just grating on my ears. Once I started listening to it on Spotify and a proper speaker (not my TV), I finally appreciated it. The rest of the mini album is pretty interesting too, I'm looking forward to more from Billlie!

ahhh finally! ever since billlie debuted I hoped for a reaction from you all! I've been following mystic rookies for quite some time and this debut didn't disappoint me at all. it definitely did go into a direction I didn't expect them to go but the whole mini album is full of songs with different concepts! ring x ring is probably the most unique one and it was quite a choice to debut with a song like this AND make it a title track but at the same time it is so so refreshing!

Billlie is one of 2021's most underrated K-Pop girl groups. The concept of RING X RING isn't everyone's cup of tea but it's honestly a masterpiece. Moreover, the whole Billage of Perception tracklist is a great combination of flavors and showcases all of the members vocal power. Honestly one of the best and most unique concepts ever.

I found them very interesting. Their debut album is really great. And I also loved Snowy Night, their second release. That was more traditional sounding but has a twist that makes atracting as well. I'm so excited with this group already.

I agree that it was a risky first song, I hated it at first, and I came back to it months later and loved it. but in the k-pop market, maybe starting with something risky is a good choice, because the industry is oversaturated and anything that sounds conventional won't be a strong debut because it won't help the group stand out. what feels strange to me is that 'RING X RING' and 'GingaMingaYo' were both very unique, and 'RING ma bell' feels much more straightforward. but 'RING ma bell' was what brought me back to the first two songs. I can't decide whether or not they released them in the right order. they needed a strong debut era, but I kind of needed something like 'RING ma bell' to lure me towards the stranger songs, which I now love. of course, they had a lot of success with GingaMingaYo, which is great. after watching it I feel like 'RING X RING' would have deserved more attention as well.

I feel like I’ve been waiting a million years for this reaction! I’m so happy to watch this. Billlie really stole my heart with this debut. I had no idea what to think initially, but there was something about how different it is, and the urgency, intensity, creepiness with that hint of something happier (hope? victory?) that just grabbed me and it very quickly became a song that I just loved. I love how unapologetically weird and bold it is, and that there isn’t any other group with this sound. It feels like a wonderful mix of Dreamcatcher, Red Velvet and Jpop combined. Also you read the lyrics it makes the song hit that much harder. I’m not usually one for creepy horror stuff but it’s totally intriguing!

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who thought it sounded like jpop. They really are the first of their kind. GFriend takes inspiration from anime openings and Dreamcatcher took inspiration from idol jrock, but Billlie really does sound like a j-POP group. Makes sense that they would recruit Japanese trainees for this group Another fact, their company is an SM subsidary, which explains their really good vocal line with Haram and Suhyeon (Although it is true that BEG has great vocals!)

I loved Ring x Ring! I have the entire album on repeat since their debut, I listen it everyday while I'm going to work. I have to say that they remind me Brown Eyed Girls a lot, Haram and Suhyeon voices remind me Narsha and Jea and Sua and Siyoon remind me Miryo. I was waiting for this! Didn't expect to immediately get the whole ensemble tho!! I loved how I felt the first time I listened to this song, like I didn't get it but I loved that I was confused. Some songs that confuse me are repulsive to me, but I like this one. This song is definitely polarising, tho.

Yessss I love that it feels uneasy, uncomfy, misplaced, and unsettling. If anything, it makes me want to listen to it again and again just to find something to hold onto. Also, we're left with a eerie feeling anyway because Billie is still missing.
