I mean if you know how to play an acoustic violin you definitely know how to play an electric one cuz it’s still a violin

There is a saying in the guitar world... "It's not about the tree, it's all about the monkey" meaning a good musician will play well no matter the "quality" of the instrument. Eddy is a great violinist he would sound good even on a 30 dollar violin. The quality of the sound might not be the best, but the execution would be as good as always

I think only Mission Impossible and Smooth Criminal sounded good on the electric. Maybe it was because of the double stops; the other pieces sounded a bit dull to me.

@@phantom_wolf5274 i think they're really cool, but a lot of musicians, including TwoSet, don't seem to like them. It's probably for the same reasons classical and electric guitarists don't like each other--difference in technique, style and one thinking the other doesn't know their instrument. But keyboardists and pianists don't make fun of each other like that from what I've seen. 😅 I play both.

@@kpdooty I would hope the bridge on that Yamaha SV200 (~$1,500) is set up right. On cheaper solid body electrics the pickup and built in pre-amps can muddy the sound for sure and the really, really cheap ones can be all sorts of wrong (which is true for acoustics as well). Solid body electrics do have their advantages; without a mute - they are about as load as an acoustic with a heavy mute, with a rubber mute they are nearly silent, performers don't have to worry about turning the wrong way on stage and causing feedback so they are a lot more convenient in smaller less professional venues. For orchestral performers who have practice space where volume isn't an issue for at least 40hrs a day, electric violins are pointless indeed. Oh and if you wish to go all in to sacrilegious, you could use effect pedals, even lower the octave of make cello like noises lol
