I HOPING TO GO TO A CONCERT WITH THE CLASSICS 4 AND FIVE OTHER ARTISTS IN THE TWIN CITIES, mINNESOTA 28. the Classics 4 ARE MY MAIN REASON FOR GOING. Itys too bad that Dennis Yost had to pass .We will miss his golden voice.THE OTHER artists aren't too shabby either, the Turtles,Little Anthony(no imperials which is too bad)Gary Puckett and the Union Gap,the Vogues and the Cowsills.THE ONLY NEGATIVE IS THAT IS PROBABLY A TWO HOURS SHOW AND THEY PROBABLY WILL ALL ONLY PLAY BRIEFLY. IT SHOULD BE QUITE A GOOD SHOW/CELEBRATION OF FROM THAT ERA
These were my favorite songs "back in the day". They still are; I still have those 45s, and play them now and then. I was just a very young teen when I heard Spooky for the first time, on Chicago radio; rounded up a bunch of empty pop bottles, robbed my piggy-bank, and rode my bike 4 miles to the old Woolworths in nearest, small town! My 45 still has the little flower I drew on the label. There's something very special the Classics IV had....magical !
Got play with Yost for about 3 years in the Nineties it was a lot of fun backing him up and his wife Linda was a sweetheart. Got to open for a back up a lot of great entertainers because of Dennis. You never know what doors will open unless you keep on trying!
I love to hear this awesome group singing this kind of mellow sound way back sixties bring back memories tenks four this great contribution to the world of great music
I was born in 1970, but I remember these songs on the radio often as a young child. My parents often played these on the Hi-Fi and in the old station wagon, we took many vacations in. So glad I inherited their record collection to keep the memories of simpler times alive and allow my son to discover these wonderful classics.
I have such fond memories of these songs from when I was a child ( born 63 here) But hearing these on the radio in the house, and outside with everyone hanging out. Musically they're beautiful; Amazing chord progressions and key changes, Dennis Yost semi husky voice, fine jazz arrangements, and I love the vibraphone if Traces.. so classy
80’s baby here and I love a ton of these older classics. I’m a musician-hobbyist, and I believe that listening to these songs have influenced my own sound.
What better to use the musical instrument with the coolest sound(the saxaphone) to augment four great songs by the the much underrated band the Classics IV.I am not saying that they are Rock and Roll or Pop music Hall of Fame worthy they have nice easy going pleasant songs but still oustanding tunes. The new lead vocalist is just okay but it would be tough to surpass the late great Denny Yost.Traces,Spooky and Stormy are their most popular songs but I still put"Everyday girl with you " as my personal favorite which is so joyful and the video that features so many pretty girls honoring them as women.
1968 your bringing Me back to when I was 13 years old and the Memories long Lost 😢 what a time it was, the old beer barrel Bar pool table is now a McDonalds Restaurant In the Italian Area is now the Niagara Falls Ghetto
I loved the melody of stormy, so dreamy, puts you in a certain mood...the singing and band was excellent, too. One of those few songs that evokes so much emotion.
I was born in 1988 and i heard this as a kid and still love it to this day and i always thought it was sooo 😎 but that's because im an old soul i grew up on music from the 50s 60s and 70s then 80s and on because my parents were in their 30s when They had me and my dad always put it on the oldies station and i heard these songs so much i know them words verbatim
i got this 45 back in 69 from a friend of mine we used to work together at El Donuts San Antonio Edddie Brookbank hope you are doing well old friend. Nick Saenz
Djantbro; "Love that 60s; Pop, Rock & Soul"! Awesome! The Classics IV "Rocked! the House", with Mellow Love Songs! "Traces of Love" was my favorite Classics IV Song! I recall, listening to the '60s & '70s Pop, Rock, Soul, Folk, Jazz & Disco "Oldies" on WCBS-FM in NYC, back in the Early 1980s as a College Student; "Back-in-the-Day", Graduating in "83", from SJU; you could turn the music down low, which made studying a lot easier!.
Three home runs. A few of these guys went on to form the Atlanta Rhythm Section. Whom I saw open for Skynyrd back in the good ol' '70s! That was a Large Time indeed.
one of the GREATEST GROUPS OF ALL TIME these songs take me back to the sixty's great times en el barrio i am sitting her with my special needs daughter and she loves this group Dennis RIP.
Simpler time? Great songs but the country was being torn apart by Race riots and the Vietnsm War and political assassinations!!.....the 60s were pretty chaotic!!
All 3 songs pure magic!!!! Never get tired of them at all. To accomplish even one of these songs as a classic and standard is amazing but 3 of them in one year is unbelievable. Buddy Buie showed me his finished product in his studio in Doraville, Ga. "Do It Or Die" a hit too and I asked him if I showed him a great melody would he write it with me? He said yes if he liked it.
Traces is probably one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Interesting key changes in addition going from minor to major chords. That chord at 5:49 is dramatic and beautiful, repeats a few more times throughout the song. And despite the melancholy lyrics, there's something very assuring about the music itself.
So....how many know that Spooky was originally an instrumental released in 1966 by saxophonist Mike (Shapiro) Sharp. The words were later created/added and then used in this cover version by C4. The sax solo is played by none other than Mike himself!
Didn't listen to it when it was out & popular. But now I've taken to really really like this two songs (spooky, stormy)traces is really a nice song too, listen 2tha lyrics. Big 🖐🏽 five, great selection. Thanks 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 For you🎁
Yo amo ❤️ La música de los clásicos desde siempre 💞 David tenía una voz hermosa y Las melodías tan hermosas ❣️ ybellas que compuso hojala esté en el paraíso cantándole al sr Dios
They're a wonderful group with a lot of big hits, what I don't understand is why they call themselves" The Classics IV (4) with 5 people in the group??
