"Out in the Country" by Three Dog Night. This is extended version #2, using keyboardist Jimmy Greenspoon's excellent middle organ bridge as the intro. It appears three times within the song. Total time: 7:45. Hope you like it!
Great years but, just wait until `2033, there will be 1,000 years of peace on this newly made over earth! This world, one more and then, the fire works in `3033!!!! Everything in God's heaven will be given unto his children!!!
Yes, I’m 67 also and even though the world is going …let’s say it is not going so great , nobody is going to take those magical and authentic moments and dreams that we had then away from our young hearts 💕
I heard this song during the last year I graduated from high school, and that is 1971. This song makes me feel like I want to return to school and relive my life again. Well, there is no one who stays younger forever in life. That is what it is meant to be.
Im 62 never forget you could not turn on the radio for 5 minutes back then 69,70 without hearing 3 Dog Night and Creedence. This song I remember older sis had 8 track this tape golden memories
when gas was 25 cents a gallon. I remember it well. Then along came carter and the beginning of the fake energy crisis and fake global warming to make the politicians all wealthy. 🙄
Never heard this extended version. Out In The Country is one of most soothing song performed by a rock group. Jimmy Greenspoon's lovely organ portray the serene atmosphere of the countryside. A timeless number that will remain evergreen.
Me and the boys used to cruise country roads in the 70s with a couple 12 packs of Stroh's beer jamming to Three Dog Night 8-tracks. Those were the days!
No breathing air in Clairton PA where US Steel polluted both air + the Monongahela River near Pittsburgh. Durty business making coal into coke to make steel. General Motors was our biggest customer, cars were like tanks, gas was cheap.
I'm 67 and I've been listening to this great band since the early 70's and I haven't listened to this since I was just a kid. Thank you for reminding me of my best years of my life, here in Santiago de Chile, when everything was beautiful and bright. Thanks to Chuck, Cory and Danny for this gem.
I only heard of this song about 8 years ago even though I listened to lots of 3 dog night but only 1 album. So I was limited. Hard to try something new. I'm 66. 🙂
"Beautiful & Bright" That is gone now. The child activists making all the noise have never known this. 65 here. Thank You for the comment 7 months past.
66 here. My favorite Three Dog Night also. Like you guys this brings back great memories. Now retired and living in a mountain rainforest in Costa Rica. Out in the country where the rivers like to run.
Almost 65 here & nobody can ever take away all those endless hours listening to 3DN. This song, although not one of their most popular, is one of my favorites.
The reason it SUCKS is that they didn't write any of their own music to give me /them a break no one deserved to be in the Hall of Fame anymore than these guys expounded with talent.
John Denver was one of them. People were Ga Ga for him as I was. But I would never go to a concert to see him or anyone. I always hated crowds. Everyone has opinions like you and me. It's not a statistical fact that they were. It's just in your mind. 🙂
@@JohnSmith-uy7sv They were GREAT back then and everyone I knew loved them. I attended 3 of their concerts during their reign and loved every one of them! Sorry about your sour experience.....but it's just your sour OPINION.....right John? smh
@@JohnSmith-uy7sv Nope.....you're the same John Smith that made the same two sour comments above. You said it, you wear it dude....DUH! John Denver was also great, but his songs generally didn't have the same "edge" that many 3 Dog songs did. For instance compare "Country Road" with 3 Dogs "Liar" or "Eli's Coming" or "Easy to be Hard" or "Celebrate" or "Mama Told Me Not To Come"....let alone "Joy to the World" and see what I mean. 3 Dog had a hard AND soft sound (Pieces of April" "Out in the Country" and "Let me Serenade You") while John Denver was mostly mild and more laid back. And yes I liked them BOTH but 3 Dog took the cake for most music lover's because they covered it all musically.
When this tune was getting airplay, an AM radio DJ played it right after a bunch of nasty storms with tornado warnings went thru. I think he was trying to calm people...it worked
at least it wasn't our DJ during the atlanta killings and he started to play queens..."another one bites the dust" They fired him on air in about 10 seconds.
When I leave, this is just one of the songs that will forever be with me in my memories of that time in my life....long time ago...so simple and easy ❤...
My favorite 3DN song from the Fall 1970 only 5 yrs going to kindergarten at that time...when dad brother and sister were alive R.I.P. i love and miss you guys great memories.
...I was in High School in 1970, and this is STILL one of the best songs ever, and one of the best by TDN. I saw them perform several times, they did this song as an Encore twice , at two different shows... and brought the house down ,I'm telling you. Outstanding. Cory Wells passed away, but at 76, Chuck Negron is still holding his own. As are Danny Hutton and David Morgan. Jimmy Greenspoon passed away in 2015, unfortunately.
I’m with you there. My mom died, then 19 years later dad died, later my sisters. I’m the last of my original family. I didn’t appreciate them when they were alive but I do miss them. 70’s music was great and 3DN was among the very best.
@@texasstardust6010 Chuck Negron just turned 81 and he married his longtime girlfriend that looks in her middle 30's. Google him. Just saw it yesterday.
One of my favorite 3 Dog songs. I was able to attend 3 of their concerts over the years......always a great show!! After retiring, we bought acreage "Out in the country" (Oregon) and love it out here. Peace and quiet.....clean air, pine and fir trees, deer, fox, horses, cows. sheep, turkeys, squirrels and eagles seen out our front and back decks regularly. ;-)
My brother I am envious! Just a quick question here, how close to Eugene are you? I am a huge track and field fan and on the bucket list is a trip to see the Prefontaine Classic. I am hoping that the trials will be at Hayward Field for the LA games in '28 and another bucket list item, an Olympic Trials! Now the big challenge, saying active enough to get there, I ain't getting any younger, just turned 70. Be well and safe peace to you and yours.
1 of my All-time favorite songs! A true masterpiece! They should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame despite not writing most of their Songs, since they had so many great Hits that everyone knows and loves! They really deserve it!
Yes, they sure do! For the great groups we loved from the 60's and 70's that have never gotten into the RRHF, like Three Dog Night... it's a damn travesty! They deserve the marching order......ahead of all the bands inducted now!! There should be a spot reserved for Three Dog Night and others that were amazing, but not nominated. Especially for all the pure efforts that they've earned!! Listen to their voices, instruments and the beautiful music that they all performed. Their unique talent is immeasurable for all time!
66 here. I grew up listening to this masterpiece. Takes me back to a day in St.Ann Jamaica, when I hiked up to a little hamlet atop Iron Mountain above Golden Grove. Sat down and fired up a splif of my neighbors ganja. Watched the sunset behind those beautiful emerald hills. At one point, the entire area looked as though it was dipped in gold paint. Ethereal!
I grew up listening to my sister playing records from groups like these & I miss her...she and my other relatives had great tastes in a wide variety of music. What's out there now pales in comparison. Nothing says America like its music does.
I’m 66 I have never heard the extended version of this song and it was one of my favorites even though it was a minor hit for three dog night Paul Williams wrote this, and he always Road such great music love this tune
My favorite of theirs. I remember seeing them on the Mike Douglas Show, and Douglas said "but there's more than three of you". One of the members said "looks like one of us had puppies"....
Paul Williams was a prolific songwriter (later Actor) … who provided songs for radio/TV commercials as well as a variety of artists (1960s/1970s). He collaborated with different artists throughout his career. Three Dog Night and Carpenters (with arrangements by Richard Carpenter) brought him national attention. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Williams_(songwriter)
No need for the electronic effects, (don't get me wrong, I do like Pink Floyd) but, this brings back great memories of my early years. I still love it to this day.
@@Beaglemaster3 I would have loved this song if was produced with this length in the beginning. I have yet to hear your first extended edition. By the way, you are welcome. Thank you for tapping or typing to me.
@@Beaglemaster3 You are welcome. I love this song and edition you made it to be. It should have been played on the FM radio stations. Thank you for being very thoughtful enough to type to me.
I hope you will enhance "Easy to Be Hard," by Three Dog Night, and "Bang on the Drum" by Todd Rundgren. Your workmanship is great and needs to be recognized by the listening audience.
This along with pieces of April and a few others can and often play over and over on my iPad, record player, iPod, desktop computer via RU-vid- lucky me😅
Gabriel Mekler, Richard Podolor, and Jimmy Ienner were Three Dog Night’s producers. Though the Dogs recorded three of his songs, Paul Williams never produced them.
RU-vid YOU'RE KILLIN ME, SO MANY MEMORIES. OF PEOPLE I LOVE, MOST OF. Y CHILDHOOD FRIENDS ARE DEAD, NOT OF AGE, BUT COVID TOOK THEM. I MISS THEM. LOST TOUCH WHEN I JOINED THE AIR FORCE. Whenever I need to leave it all behind Or feel the need to get away-ay-ay I find a quiet place, far from the human race Out in the country Before the breathin' air is gone Before the sun is just a bright spot in the night-time Out where the rivers like to run I stand alone and take back somethin' worth rememberin' Whenever I feel them closing in on me Or need a bit of room to move When life becomes too fast, I find relief at last Out in the country Before the breathin' air is gone Before the sun is just a bright spot in the night-time Out where the rivers like to run I stand alone and take back somethin' worth rememberin' Before the breathin' air is gone Before the sun is just a bright spot in the night-time Out where the rivers like to run I stand alone and take back somethin' worth rememberin' Before the breathin' air is gone Before the sun is just a bright spot in the night-time Out where the rivers like to run I stand alone and take back somethin' worth rememberin' Before the breathin' air is gone Before the sun is just a bright spot in the night-time
