Blue Torch!! Thank for that. I remembered the shows name was Blue something. I used to record it on VHS too. Mostly for the music. That show turned me on to a lot of good tunes like Folk Implosion here.
Art Bars didn't get enough credit. Cuz it was artsy. Strubing one upped himself in That's Life. His That's Life part has to be top 20 video parts of all time imo.
this was my era of skating. art bars, misled youth, modus operandi, the storm, fulfill the dream, menikmati. these were the videos i would get psyched on. in the days of the VHS tape.
Classic bag of tricks, skates fast and a good style, take note up and coming pro's, he ticks most of the boxes. Don't get too bogged down by tech, this guy makes an ollie look special
Over 20 years later and who can do extended crooks, extended b/s tailslides like that *in the streets* ? (despite everyone "skating for fun", now). There was a time in (street) skating history when *elitism was what dominated. Now, everyone thinks their hot shit for merely 'riding a skateboard'/ owning a pair a vans. Again, your average 'skateboarder' today can't do/ does not do 90% of the stuff in this vid, let alone attempt such simple tricks at a like-speed, like Strubing, here. This vid is from year 2100, not 2000, imho. And what about the footwear? My gawd. Idk what happened with the modern skate industry's choice to render all skate shoe styles as these cheapy, low profile shoes. The early 00's had some models that were stylish as hell. The Emerica Marc Johnson 1s and 2s frequent much here in Art Bars. Such an awesome shoe when it was available. Why we're still a culture limiting ourselves to low-profile, "old school" Vans-y looking shoe models is beyond me.
he's the og busenitz. just would blaze at everything and in runs. you should stop callilng these classics and call me, awesome ass vid parts you youngsters have never seen.
His speed means more leg strength than most tight ass jeans.. Skates a bit like Machnau, gnarly-- but Strubing has less flashy arm flapping and body english. Super quiet gnar-style indeed
@Framework17 oh my god, how could i forget about the end?? and when 411vm was a real legit thing. adio's one step beyond was a big one for me too. or the first flip sorry video.
