My daughter went from a school with all technology, tablets, interactive boards, sitting in a circle on the floor, having a forest for playground to another school in another country with black board, row of wooden desks, concrete playground.. Guess which one she loved? Yep the second one. What does it? The teacher.
I think that the more important difference between classrooms was the teacher and how they interacted with students. I don't understand how more technology would help. More than half of the teachers at my high school had websites and blogs that they updated daily. But very few students actually visited those sites. Technology cannot teach people. Teachers do that.
I don't know, I mean I had history teachers growing up, whom as long as they got the students involved with questions and participation, it was a great class without the need for technology. We never onced used the overhead projector, blackboard, let alone, did we have computers provided for us. Call me ancient if you must, but having the vocation for teaching, can be a great help. And, yes, we did fine on our tests.
Technology is just a tool but if you have access to it in the classroom it can be a great way to enhance the learning. Great teachers, of course, know how to use whatever they have available in the classroom, whether it be a chalkboard or a computer.
This is just a great example how we need to change how we educate our students. I am going to be a teacher and I want to be like the first teacher. The only thing sometimes you have to work with what resources that are available. I want my class to be more interactive not the traditional classroom.
Yeah when you get that big money to put all those computers in all those classes in all schools that will be a miracle. Especially with a recession and high gas prices.
Technology must not be always on the basis of computerized standard. How can it be f you have to teach in the underdeveloped country where you will never see any wire of electricity? Will you still use computer? Effective classroom is simply focus on how we build up two way-traffic interactions between students and teachers and vice versa by means of clear communication. Technology whatever it is - just only tool or equipment to make class interaction more alive, but surely technology itself is not the only means of teaching aids. So the most important thing in the classroom management is how we build up the best involvement and participation of the students and how we create alive interactions between the students and the teacher during the learning activities. Anyhow, I do appreciate your work. thank yo.
Thanks for you comment. The point of the video is to show how school could look in the future. So should Facebook and Twitter be part of how teacher can interact with students and provide information? Yes! Unfortunately most schools are not there yet. We hope the video can encourage schools to move forward with technology and help change they way kids are taught.
A lot of teachers use Facebook and Twitter to post homework assignments and other important information for students and for parents. That doesn't mean the students will be using Facebook and Twitter in class, since most schools block those sites. But there are some teachers who let students use smartphones, iPads, iPods and everything else in class. Look up "flipped classroom" and "bring your own technology" classes for more information.
Yeah... I actually wonder why and how certain subjects are taught in schools and universities even. Take a look at engineering. They teach you how to do things the long way around and even how to do the calculations by hand or on a normal calculator. The joke is on you because when you get a job in engineering, a computer will do it all for you and you'll literally never have to worry about it!
i am a fully trained high school teacer and i say ABSOLUTELY NO!! to putting learners onto any facebook page belonging to you, no matter how educational the content. teacher student facebook links are a big NO NO!!
Agreed. A school-run Google Classroom account is a good place to post all information and conduct all teacher-student communication about your lesson. There should be NO off-school interaction. That includes using re-routed Google Telephone Numbers, personal Facebook, Twitter, RU-vid accounts that are not school-run. The school needs to be able to see what the teacher and students are doing at all time. That's very important to everyone at the school, including teachers and students.
Ya ves Humberto, solo que en facebook no se puedas subir este video, este es el punto que no han entendido en la pagina de sociedad de exalumnos del Tepeyac.
My school, we all have laptops, they get broken having to lug them around all day, cracked screens, while the teacher might be like this one giving them fun stuff to learn the first thing we will do is say "virtual tour of Ancient Egypt? Fuck that, lets take some selfies and post them on snapchat" or "what level are you up to on the game you're playing" internet always dropping out, some of us have no internet at home so can't log on to anything to see what teachers posted. I actually started getting interested in this "bad" teacher's stick on pictures, because it was amusing, rather than the other class who was playing a war video and talking about it.
The second teacher should be how the American Education System should be one on one, interactive and engaging. This is why we are falling behind like countries like India,China,Japan.I also think we need a federal-mandated year around schools for both public and private and including both 2 year and 4 year college, NO MORE SUMMER BREAKS!And drop the teacher workdays too, but leave the holidays.
@@melvina628 We’re paid to write, produce and shoot the videos. If you know someone who is willing to fund the project to create videos like you mentioned please let us know.
Yeah, well somebody needs to inform the administrators so they can adjust their hiring, all they seem to want is someone that will keep the students quiet.
... that one teacher was trying too hard to be cool, normal kids see right through that. It might have just been for the video but there should be a balance, hes still the teacher, the adult in the room, and should act appropriately.
Well excellent 11min movie and excellent actors, specially both teachers. All is fake and unreal, oh yes the boring students are real, around the world and all levels. Technology in schools are bored too because is used to teach the same boring subjects in the curriculum. Schools loose the real north years ago, are dying (in poor countries are death, in wealth countries are dying) and teachers and governments know it. In the era of AI, Robots and resets times we need to beguin a new education from scratch. A former and happy ICT teacher.
Haha I would bet every possession I have that if you put a classroom of students K-12 in front of computers 95% of the time you will have at least 1 kid off task on some website not related to the instruction
The examples of what not to do is a mockery of the educational system it’s self. I’m not too sure about your curriculum and I like level one don’t understand it to kind of almost understand it need help and three I understand it for I could teach it to others that’s called Musano I think you guys need to learn a little bit
Obviously this whole thing is an overdone caricature of the effectiveness of technology in the classroom. But the fakest thing in this whole fake video is that classroom where all the kids are engaged and read the blog at night and connect with a video chat when they have a question and read articles the teacher links in a tweet. I've been using these technologies and more for 12 years in a 1:1 school and they don't work because the kids don't care. The boring old teacher with the flannelgraph has the last laugh. I've been the other guy all my career. That room full of working technology (that the kids ignore anyway) consumes the teacher's entire life. The other guy goes home at 5:00, grades papers for an hour and enjoys the rest of his evening. In the end, both teachers probably get the same test scores with similar students and get paid the same.
