Congratulations on the new job! I hope no one took your stuff from the room. When you said the principal announced the items as up for grabs, I got so stressed instantly that people might take the things you brought lol

Congratulations! It’s so odd to me that old teachers leave everything up on the walls and in the cabinets. Makes it sooooooo much work for the new teacher. But I live in the nethderlands and thing are so different here.

Sorry if my question is really dumb... I'm from Brazil and things here are different, but just to see if I got this right.... You, as the teacher, have to provide your own stuff to the school? That's sounds crazy to me.......

Schools are budgeted for basic things. If you want to customize your classroom, you would have to pay for your own decorations since its a personal preference.
