YES I LOVE the built-in shelves! My school was renovated in 2009 and we got something similar They are beautiful rich wooden tomes. You can see them in my classroom setup videos! the storage is incredible!
I just graduated high school and I love seeing all the work that teachers put into providing a positive learning environment for their kids! There have been a few teachers over my years who have truly made a difference in my life beyond their teaching. I can tell that you will be an amazing teacher and I am so so so happy for you! I would love to help out in any way that I can, what from you Amazon list is urgent for your classroom at the moment? Thank you!
Congratulations on graduating! And you are the absolute sweetest. I don't know what you would be willing to buy but my most needed things are the rolling cart, clear sterilite bins, or the everything you need to know about ELA in one big fat notebook! Thank you so much for being so supportive girl!
@@CheyandNate Thank you so much! Of course! I just stumbled upon your channel yesterday and I love it! I wish you all the best in this upcoming school year:)
As other teachers have mentioned, you might want to keep your file cabinet. You will need that to keep your students files. I have 2 file cabinets and would not trade them. It keeps me organized and is easy to access the files I need. You are very lucky to have a humongous classroom. I’m totally envious of your classroom. To help you move furniture you need to get the furniture sliders. Makes moving furniture very easy.
me! young teachers are the best. i had a guidance counselor one year that sadly was only a substitute for one year that was young. she was very easy to talk to because understood me :)
me. most of the teachers i've had were a lot older then her so it would have been cool to have younger teacher that understands her better since shes closer to the students age. plus shes still a kid herself. she is only 23 years old
Omg the ancient textbooks is too relatable!! They left so much stuff for you in your room but you've gone through so much of it already! Also love your affirmation station, SO CUTE!!
Y’all are so lucky you can fit desk six feet apart and have lots of extra stuff like book shelf and and cabinets the rooms at our school are so small we probably can’t fit 15 desk like that we already have small classes
hey there! unless your school is christian/catholic id recommend taking the cross down. as a jewish student i felt super left out and alone with a cross up in my public school room. just a thought to make it more inclusive!
I’m pretty sure it’s Catholic/Christian, 8:59 look at the poster behind her, it looks like it’s a poster from the school she works at and it has a cross.
Isn't classroom set-up the best? I love being alone in my room and just diving into all of the stuff I have and making an AWESOME space for my students to learn in. Looks like you have some great things planned for next year! Thanks for sharing.
"a lot of it is junk honestly...random things that I don't even know if I'm going to teach because it's so old.": words constantly running through my mind as eng/hist/music teacher haha. Sorry about the migraines so glad the glasses help and you look good w/ em since they give you an elegant look.
You seem a bit judgement of the previous teacher. Old books are worth keeping they might just have a poem you can use. Older things have value in a subject like English, think about Shakespeare.

You should have kept the filing cabinet to fill it with items you want out along with itself. Didbyou ask your boss if you really needed all those books by the side wall/huge shelf? Get rid of them.
I would paint the filing cabinet and put it to the right of your white and green cabinet, and then if you keep the black shelf, put that next to that and maybe clothes pin a curtain to it to hide the paper towels or something. If you have room, I would move the table and use it for group work, or activities, etc. I use my table for my cafe, stations, and for students who need more space than a desk.
when i was that young all my teachers were mainly a lot older. like 40s. so its cool that your closer to the age of the students so they can relate to you better.
It’s crazy to see the difference between newer teachers and “older” teachers because we’re learning not to use as many work sheets ( Because they kinda suck)
I graduated high school this year after completing fours in a New Teacher Academy. You make such a difference in young lives. After college, my goal is to become a middle school teacher. Until then, I’ll be living my dream in your videos. Thank you so much for sharing and doing such a selfless job. We need more teachers like you!
Love your videos! You could put all of the textbooks and things on the bottom row or 2 rows of the shelves and then the top of it could be your books and decor!
You should get a mini fridge to put all your snacks and stuff and put your lunch box in thereor the big table in your last one or the one you did for this one you should keep it as a discipline thing if you guys do detention
Maybe you should use the paper towels with a disinfectant spray so you can have a clean disinfected classroom. Also before you put things up spray them down with a disinfectant solution (especially the books) since covid-19 has been a problem. Things to spray down: Books, School Supplies, Cabinets, Your Desk, And Other Things Students May Touch.
I was an optician for many years. I retired last year. I was wondering about your glasses because I watched an more recent video and I was able to see through your lenses when you turned your head and I couldn't see any sign of your lenses having any prescription in them. I also noticed several videos with you driving and you weren't wearing glasses which if your eyes needed any vision correction you would have almost certainly needed when driving. So after watching this video I now understand why. I'm a little surprised that your blue light blocking glasses work so well for your migraines. As you know blue light blocking glasses are basically for wearing when viewing devices with screens. The sun also emits blue light as well but sunglasses usually work well for that. I think the reason you were getting migraines was because of the overhead fluorescent lights. So even though you apparently have perfect eyesight you're going to need your glasses during your hours of teaching. One thing I do suggest you do is stop at any optical store and have them adjust your glasses. I couldn't help but notice how often you were pushing them back in position. Now that you're going tgo wearing them pretty much all day long you don't want to be constantly readjusting your glasses. Remember that even Walmart has a very nice vision center right in the front of all their stores. They can adjust your glasses in a couple minutes time and there won't be any charge. At least by wearing glasses you look more like a teacher should look. Over my years as an optician I fitted a good number of teachers with glasses. Not to mention that I think every teacher I ever had wore glasses.
your classroom is starting to take shape! i'm excited to continue seeing your progress. I will definitely be stealing your contact paper idea! from your last video when Los Angeles county decides to do in-person teaching again.
ohhhh my goodness that white and black spotted contact paper on the book case in 11:08 is SO CUTE! I need to do this with the book cases in my classroom! Just found your channel and subscribed, love it!
You should have put some of the big paper(whatever color you want) behind mirror then put the positive saying on it so it covers the black marks on wall and pops more.
saw this idea from one of a classroom setup vid its like instead of putti g the big piece of affirmation at the top of the mirror write you are then in the both sides you can just stick good words like awsome creative and many more motivating words think this will help
Given how much cleaning people will be doing with COVID I bet you will be glad to have all those paper towels. You are lucky they are letting you do so much in your room. Lots of our teachers have had to take everything that is personally theirs out of their rooms.
Omg I am so happy to see another middle school English teacher 👩🏼🏫! I’m not a first year teacher but I’m being moved to middle school English this year and girl, I’m struggling with the same issues, tons of old crap! I had to throw so much away. Are English teachers just hoarders or something!
Middle schoolers are generally self conscious in front of their peers, so standing in front of a mirror for positive affirmations may not fly with many of them (some of them will LOVE it!). Just be ready to have an alternative for the kids on the shy side... especially eighth graders. Maybe look up some child developmental research on your age groups!!!
