Everyone is giving you great options for turning the chalkboard into a whiteboard but you could also use chalk markers. Probably not the best for constant removal and rewriting but it would be really cute on one of the smaller back boards for semi- permanent information. They have bright fun colors that pop way more than regular chalk.

I love your room and the "old" feel it has with the chalkboard and wood cabinets and stuff. New schools are so stale looking, this room has lots of character and feels cozy. So jealous haha

I would probably cut up a clear shower curtain and cover the fabric on the crates. You know....accidents happen!

The crate seats are nice. I teach elementary music and don't use chairs, but I could use this for a special seat for what ever comes up.

You could get some better than paper what you can write on with like dry erase markers and cover the chalkboard so then you can actually use the board

Just like Tedi Clements said you could get some dry erase stick on for the chalk board and use it as a dry erase board!

Here's one thing I don't understand. It is 2019 how come so many classrooms in our country don't have air conditioning? Even the older school's in my county have it and we are in West Virginia known for not having money for the school system. I mean I have seen southern states with out AC and I know how hot it gets here I can only imagine what it feels like down there on a hot school day.

In my school they took out the chalkboards because the chalk dust messes up the technology in the smart board so fingers crossed they take out yours!

If you don’t want to cover up the chalkboard instead of using actual chalk you can use chalk markers so it’s like writing on the board with regular markers but it’s the exact same as chalk and it’s easier so we don’t have to waste that whole space

I have a chalkboard that I painted with magnetic paint. I use it for my word wall, I build as we go. Your chalkboard may be magnetic, you should check.

One fat quarter was large enough with the batting for one seat cover, correct? They seemed small when I was at Walmart today. I just want to make sure so I don't have to go the fabric store and figure out sizes. I saw furniture cover material I may use to protect the fabric from potty accidents.
